2005 Aston Martin Vanquish S Transmission: automaticMileage:32669A total of 1,086 Vanquish S models were manufactured between 2005 and 2007 and were debuted at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. Offering a power increase from 460bhp to 520bhp, other changes included new wheels, a slightly different nose shape, new raised boot lid with a larger integrated spoiler and the addition of a small front splitter for aerodynamic reasons which help the Vanquish S boast an improved drag coefficient. The car also featured an optional Sports Dynamic Package which incorporated sportier suspension, steering and larger brakes than the standard V12 Vanquish. With a top speed exceeding 200mph, the Vanquish S was, at the time, the fastest Aston Martin ever produced. Presented in Tungsten Silver (same as in the Bond film) with an Obsidian Black interior, this 2005 Vanquish is a very sought-after model and has had just three former keepers and has been in the ownership of our private vendor since 2015. Still boasting the original Aston Martin umbrella in the boot, this car has been cared for impeccably with a service schedule seen below to be lorded and not withstanding it has just had an annual service with Aston Martin Works with a fresh MoT test certificate issued. The bodywork is described as near flawless and the metallic paintwork gleams in the sun. We believe the car will pass even the most rigorous scrutiny, such is the quality to which it has been looked after, a car that rightfully can be considered a future classic and in 'Bond' colours none the less. 1964 Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixedhead Coupé (3.8 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:95953Introduced in 1961 in 3.8 litre form, the Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation when it appeared with instantly classic lines and 150mph top speed. While, inevitably, the car's stupendous straight-line performance and gorgeous looks grabbed the headlines, there was a lot more to the E-Type beneath the skin. The newcomer's design owed much to that of the racing D-Type and, indeed, the E-Type would be one of the last great sports cars developed directly from a successful competition ancestor. Just as in the D-Type, a monocoque tub formed the main body/chassis structure while a tubular space frame extended forwards to support the engine. The latter was the same 3.8 litre, triple-carburettor, 'S' unit first offered as an option on the preceding XK150. With a claimed 265 horsepower on tap, the E-Type's performance did not disappoint. Firstly, because it weighed around 250Kg less than the XK150 and secondly, because aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer used experience gained with the D-Type to create one of the most elegant and efficient shapes ever to grace a motorcar. Those with a keen eye will notice this car is not wearing a Jaguar colour, it has in fact been painted in Aston Martin California Sage and it looks all the better for it. The respray was clearly carried out to a high standard but was finished a number of years ago and is now starting to show its age in a few places. The car was originally supplied to New York in Silver Grey with Light Blue interior but was first registered in the UK in 1987 and it was then converted to right hand drive. Our vendor purchased the car in 2007 and has covered just under 10,000 miles in that time. The gearbox was rebuilt in March 2022 using synchromesh internals to improve useability and the car retains its original engine, confirmed by a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate. An early 3.8-litre E-Type with a synchromesh gearbox is possibly the best specification, pairing the useability of later cars with synchromesh with the un-matched style of the early cars with attractive bucket seats and toggle switch dashboard. This example is offered with a very sensible estimate and is sure to generate good interest.

Lot 187

2003 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG Transmission: automaticMileage:646The fifth generation of the legendary SL series convertible sports cars was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof, a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 and SL65, both highly tuned versions of the SL500 and SL600 respectively. The SL55 was powered by a mighty supercharged version of the 5.5 litre, V8 which produced 493bhp and achieved 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph (governed). In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was de-restricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form! Averaging 33 miles a year this is a unique opportunity to own an 'as new' flagship SL55 that our vendor has retained since his purchase in 2003 for the sum of £96,055. Within the purchase price options of £5,355 included panoramic glass roof, keyless go, TV tuner, comfort seats, fixed Nokia 6090, Parktronic, Linguatronic and AMG 18 five spoke alloy wheels. Presented in metallic silver with a contrasting blood red as new interior. The car was delivered to our vendor from Germany and sat proudly next to his CL55, the CL for him and the SL for his wife however unlike the CL this example was only driven for a short time before being dry stored in a warm garage environment, under a towel cover and maintenance charger thus the staggering low mileage. Recently recommissioned for the sale which included an oil change and removing any old fuel before new Mercedes-Benz batteries were fitted, the proof of which can be found in the history file accompanied by the original service booklet. This is one of the most collectable examples of a modern AMG we have offered, and it comes to auction without reserve therefore viewing is a must, especially at the home of Mercedes-Benz AMG in the UK. Guide Price £15,000-£20,000Interested parties should note that the V5C registration document for this vehicle has been re-applied for and will arrive in due course, this will be administrated by Historics for the new owner.

1974 Citroën DS 23 Safari Seven Seat Transmission: manualMileage:55510After 18 years of secret development, the DS 19 was introduced on 5th October 1955 at the Paris Motor Show. In the first 15 minutes of the show, 743 orders were taken and orders for the first day totalled 12,000 cars. To a France still deep in reconstruction after the devastation of World War II, the DS was a symbol of French ingenuity. It was the first mass-production car with front power disc brakes. It also featured hydro pneumatic suspension including an automatic self-levelling system, variable ground clearance, power-steering, a semi-automatic transmission and a fibreglass roof which reduced weight. It also sported inboard front brakes as well as independent suspension. Despite the rather leisurely acceleration afforded by its four-cylinder engine, the DS was successful in motorsports like rallying, where sustained speeds on poor surfaces are paramount. It won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1959 and, controversially in 1966, after the disqualification of the BMC Mini Cooper team. The Citroën DS placed fifth on Automobile Magazine's '100 Coolest Cars' listing in 2005. It was also named the most beautiful car of all time by Classic & Sports Car magazine after a poll of 20 world-renowned car designers. Originally registered on 19th August 1974, this UK supplied, right hand drive Citroën DS 23 seven seat Safari presents in splendid condition. The 2347cc engine runs well and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. These larger engine DS models are delightful to drive, offering a good performance and a ride that is difficult to surpass. Finished in brown with light brown velour interior, this Safari offers a significant load space as well as being very stylish. Supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in October 2024, the original handbook pack and a file containing an original sales brochure, some invoices and old MoT test certificates. These Citroëns are an automotive masterpiece, offering beauty, functionality, and practicality in one package.

Lot 201

2010 Bentley Continental Supersports Transmission: automaticMileage:58000Unveiled in 2003 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Continental GT was a different animal. The Crewe-built cars numbers were impressive with the twin-turbo, VAG 6.0 litre W12 engines, developed in the Volkswagen Phaeton and stillborn W12 sports car, producing 552bhp and 479lb ft torque. This prodigious output was fed through a six-speed automatic box from the new A8 and distributed by the Quattro four-wheel drive system. 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 196mph were significant for a car of this stature. Some six years later, also in Geneva, Bentley unveiled their new 621bhp Continental Supersports which was indecently quick with 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 204 mph, making it the fastest and the most powerful production Bentley ever. With a revised 'Tiptronic' automatic gearbox employing a 'quick-shift' system, gear change times were reduced by 50%. To cope with the increased power, it was necessary to have carbon fibre reinforced silicon carbide ceramic disc brakes - the largest and most powerful brakes ever fitted to a production car.As the Supersports evolved Bentley managed to accidentally create a very limited-edition car, the two seat examples were not selling as hoped because at the time most of the Bentley ownership comprised a demographic of drivers who wanted four seats and a softer ride. Enter the Supersports 'comfort seat' option, a four-seat option that still gave performance, clearly not that of the two-seater but it gave a very clean way for Bentley to exit what appeared to be a fabulous car but not for their then customer demographic. This example was supplied by Bentley Edinburgh in 2010 and was specified in Silver Tempest metallic with a Beluga hide and black Alcantara interior with Portland stitching. In typical Bentley fashion, the interior has leather on almost every surface, with carbon fibre trim and Alcantara inserts on the seats and door cards. The headlining is made up mostly of Alcantara too, with the control panel being covered in Beluga hide. The cabin of any Bentley Continental really is one of the best places to spend time in a car and the cabin of a Supersports makes the experience even better. The car is supplied with a comprehensive service history consisting of four visits to Bentley main agents and four visits to GC Motors, an independent prestige car dealer. The car has been serviced prior to the sale by Bentley Birmingham and has just had the front brake calipers stripped down and rebuilt by a brake specialist. The cherished registration 'W12 AWB' is included in the sale and the car comes with an MoT test certificate valid until January 2024 and various invoices for works carried out over the years.

1936 Daimler E20 Saloon Transmission: manualMileage:80702The E20 was manufactured between 1935 and 1939. It offered the choice of a coachbuilt saloon, Sports Saloon, Fixedhead Coupé and Drophead Coupé bodies on a notably stiff box section chassis that featured integral lubrication and jacking systems. The model was powered by an OHV straight-six engine with output of 19.3hp - sufficient for a top speed of almost 70mph. This was mated to a four-speed pre-selector gearbox via Daimler's patented fluid flywheel. Suspension was by semi-elliptic springs and beam axles all round and braking by Girling servo-assisted drums. The total production of E20s was 873, of which some 35 are known to have survived, making it a rare car today. Daimlers were the sole royal appointment cars up to 1950 and this magnificent 1936 example is very much in this tradition. This lovely Daimler E20 was originally registered on 29th July 1936. According to the current owner, it has only had two owners throughout its 80 years on the road and has covered the remarkably low mileage of 80,700 miles. The vendor purchased the car in the early 1980's from the deceased estate of the first owner Mr. Daubney, who became the chairman of the Daimler and Lanchester Owners' Club. As part of a wedding hire fleet, it has been registered on the V5C registration document with a couple of other keepers but has been in his ownership since its purchase. The vendor is a very knowledgeable classic car enthusiast and he has looked after the car exceedingly well, keeping it in a warm, heated environment. Space, comfort, luxury and visibility are offered in abundance with this vehicle. This lovely, totally original 1936 Daimler E20 is finished in Regal Black with Midnight Blue inserts and the original Midnight Blue leather interior. It is supplied with a V5C registration document and a MoT test certificate which expires in September 2024. This Daimler E20 offers a rare opportunity to purchase a delightful piece of British motoring history and the preferred means of transport for our Royal family up until the 1950's.

1957 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk. II Transmission: manualMileage:90683Registered new on 12th August 1957, this rare Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk. II was coachbuilt by Tickford and was delivered new to a gentleman in London in its original colour combination of black over a beige interior. Having passed through the hands of various other owners the DB2/4 was later acquired on 20th May 1966 by our vendors late father, Doctor KT Jackson. Having used the car extensively in his tenure, we are told the Aston Martin was the car of choice for various road trips throughout the UK. Our vendor has many fond childhood memories of the car and confirms it was last running in 1969 where it was garaged at the vendor's family home, having developed a fault with the Panhard rod arm, eventually leading to a complete strip down for restoration. The restoration work came to a halt in the 1970's when family life took priority and the car was then left in the state you see it in today, stripped back to bare metal, presented on axel stands and with many parts boxed, either complete and ready to go back on the car or waiting refurbishment. Offered to the open market for the first time in 57 years, this rare British sports car is perfect for restoration. We are informed that all the parts taken off the Aston are still present (although not confirmed and no inventory taken) including all the running gear, five wheels, bumpers and many boxed ancillaries. Accompanying the Aston are various period photographs from its former glory, the original buff logbook (registration document), the sales invoice with correspondence from 1966, and various old tax discs. This rare example is one of just 199 Mk. II examples produced and is the last Mk. II ever built! This is a superb opportunity to acquire a complete barn find example that is offered without reserve, one to not be missed! Interested parties should refer to the sales department for logistics concerning the car's collection post auction.

1998 Rover Mini Paul Smith Edition Transmission: manualMileage:71460The Mini was manufactured by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original is considered a British icon of the 1960's and its space-saving front-wheel drive layout allowing 80% of the car's floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage, influenced a generation of car makers. In 1999, the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century behind the Ford Model T. Initially, Minis were marketed under the Austin and Morris names until Mini became a marque in its own right in 1969. The Mini was again marketed under the Austin name in the 1980's and was offered in a number of limited editions that usually included a special combination of trim and badging.Originally registered on 30th September 1998, this Paul Smith Edition Mini comes with paperwork dating back to the point of sale. Also included are the original service books, owner's handbook and merchandise. These 1275cc Mini's offer a fun driving experience and this example is no exception. The sports seats, colour co-ordinated dashboard and Minilite wheels are all features of this limited edition Mini. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 14th June 2024 together with a Certificate of Conformity. Rarely do Paul Smith Edition's come to the open market, this example should not be missed.

2005 Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG Transmission: automaticMileage:88200The C55 signified a return to AMG's V8 roots, after barely a three-year flirtation with a supercharged V6. AMG found 8,100 homes for the C32, but the AMG engineers seemed much happier now that there was a serious, big-capacity, naturally aspirated 5.4 litre V8 powering the meatiest C-Class and the badge is there to, well, to ensure the owners don't forget. It is not the performance, AMG claimed 5.2 seconds to 62mph for both C55 and C32, or even the transformation to a deep, wonderfully muscular exhaust note, but the makeover in the dynamics that stood the new sports saloon apart. The C55 marked a small, but perceptible, shift towards a sharper, more sporting focus, that set it closer to the M3 than any previous AMG hot-rod C-Class.This example of this brute of a car is presented in silver with black leather interior and comes with electric heated front seats, sunroof, air conditioning with climate control. Specified with the 'De-Badge' option this car is the ultimate sleeper car looking much like a standard C class while hiding 362bhp. Also accompanying the car is its original service book showing frequent servicing at almost yearly intervals from 31st June 2005 to October 2019 before its registration in the UK in 2021 and has a certificate of mileage when exported from Japan. Since 2021 the car has been serviced annually with a B service by D&B Automotive a Mercedes specialist in April 2021, a service in March of 2022 and again in March of this year which included four new Pirelli P-Zero tyres and rear axle oil flush again by D&B Automotive. Our vendor has also had the correct mph instrument cluster fitted which is incredibly rare and a Pioneer head unit providing DAB, Apple Car play, hands free phone and uses the existing buttons on the steering wheel (original Mercedes unit comes with the car). With the values of the earlier Cosworth-inspired super sports Mercedes rocketing, this pure-blood AMG super saloon in the lightweight C-Class bodyshell is already a collectible Mercedes AMG, with blistering performance and that oh-so-inspiring and famous AMG V8 exhaust note. Offered with two keys, service booklet and full service records, a new MoT and tyres less fitted less than 1,000 miles ago in March this year. This true V8 AMG looks terrific value and without badges is a real sleeper.Guide Price £12,000-£17,000

1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda Transmission: automaticMileage:95310The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production until February 1971. An all-new design by Paul Bracq to replace the 190 SL and 300 SL Roaster. The 280 SL had a powerful 2.8 litre version of Mercedes inline-six and used Bosch fuel injection. To save on weight the bonnet, boot lid and tonneau cover were all composed of aluminium. The nickname 'Pagoda' was quickly adopted thanks to the slightly concave roof on the optional removable hardtop that resembled a pagoda roof. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful disc brakes and radial tyres gave the W113 superb handling for its time. These roadsters also have one of the most beautiful bodies produced in the 1960s. Thanks to their robust inline-six and their luxurious Mercedes interior, they are wonderful cars to be driven and enjoyed. The styling of the front paid homage to the legendary 300 SL with its characteristic upright Bosch 'fishbowl' headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel. This left hand drive example of this iconic German classic was imported from the USA in 2016 and was then repainted in the traditional white which you see today. Its interior, which we believe to be original but cannot confirm, is red MB Tex and is in good condition. Its 2.8 engine is mated to a manual gearbox and we are informed it runs well. The car comes with its factory hardtop which is also in good condition and this Pagoda is priced very reasonably compared to many similar classic Mercedes-Benz. This classic Mercedes currently sports decals that evoke the companies rally heritage. Given the recent prices achieved by Pagodas in general this larger engine example is estimated extremely reasonably.

1995 BMW M3 Coupé (E36) Transmission: automaticMileage:67000Hagerty describes this specific model as 'The BMW that cemented the winning formula for the M3' with the E36 replacing the E30 in 1995. The US Spec M3 doesn't have the full fat M3 engine and Hagerty says 'I'm here to say that's a good thing'. If you look back through history, no repairs bills, the US spec M3 'is the one to have'. A civilised high performance road car that dramatically outperforms any other 3 series. Oh! And the cylinder head comes from none other than a McLaren F1 racing car. Performance is only down by one to two tenths of a second on the 'full fat' M3 to 60 mph. The E36 has won numerous accolades spanning 15 years with the best car magazines in the world. Under the bonnet, the E36 M3 is powered by a 3.0 litre inline-six engine, producing 240 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. It is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, with an optional six-speed manual gearbox available on later models or an automatic option. No snap oversteer here, which is a BMW handling feature. This early, left hand drive 1995 BMW E36 M3 Coupé is fitted with the rare automatic gearbox and privacy glass, it was imported from Japan in March 2022 and is supplied with a good Japanese service history. Work carried out here in the UK includes a service, refreshed brake calipers with upgraded Brembo pads, HID light upgrade, Toyo Proxies tyres, a MoT test certificate which expires in March 2024 and a new Pioneer Apple head unit. Finished in black with black leather interior with M Sport decals, this M3 is supplied with a V5C registration document and a file containing the Japanese service history and a photographic record of restoration works undertaken. The BMW E36 M3 Coupé is an impressive sports car that offers exceptional performance and a stylish design. This example is wonderful in every aspect, the gearbox is silky smooth, handling is sublime and performance is progressively rapid and on demand. This is a car you will want in your collection.Guide Price £12,000-£17,000

1970 Porsche 911 S (2.2 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:77528The original Porsche 911 with its famous, distinctive and durable design was introduced in the autumn of 1963 and built until 1989. Mechanically, it was notable for being rear-engined and air-cooled. From its inception, the 911 was modified both by private racing teams and the Porsche factory itself for racing, rallying and other automotive competitions. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included, namely the powerful 911-derived 935 which won Le Mans as well as other major sports cars races. In 1967 Porsche introduced the 911 T model and subsequently a 911 E version, however, the 911 S was the most desirable and with only 3,174 (with far fewer being in right hand drive guise) Porsche 911S's manufactured from 1969-1971, good quality surviving examples are rare and highly sought-after.This 911 S is one of only 120 right hand drive cars built and was originally supplied by Porsche Germany and wasn't registered in the UK until 1972. This might suggest the first owner purchased the car in Germany from the factory, possibly whilst stationed there, with the intention of bringing it home with them upon their return to the UK, as is often the case. Our vendor purchased this Bahia Red example in 2016 from a gentleman who had owned the car since 1988 and had clearly cherished it. Our vendor had the car fully resprayed not long after purchasing it and the result is a car which presents extremely well with a very consistent shine to the bodywork. The interior appears to be completely original and is all the better for it, it doesn't look overly restored like so many others do, it wears a lovely patina and really doesn't appear to require any attention at all. The odometer reading of 77,528 is understood to be correct, with MoT test certificates dating back as far as 1979 at 34,000 miles helping to warrant the mileage almost every year until the early 2000's around 73,000 miles. This is your chance to purchase one of the ultra-collectable low volume Porsche 911's, offering one of the most visceral driving experiences out there. Very few right hand drive 911S' remain, it is highly unlikely you will see another one, even at Porsche specific events. The 2.2 litre engine offers a lovely amount of power and useability, all backed up by the fabulous flat-six soundtrack for which Porsche 911's are so highly revered.

1973 Porsche 911T Targa (2.4 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:25671The original Porsche 911 was introduced in autumn 1963 and was manufactured and continuously developed until 1989. It was then succeeded by a modified version, internally referred to as Porsche 964, but still sold as Porsche 911, as are current models. Mechanically, the 911 was notable for being rear engine and air-cooled and, from its inception, the 911 was modified both by private teams and the factory itself for racing, rallying and other types of competition. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911 derived 935 which won the 24 Hours Le Mans and other major sports car races outright against prototypes. Of all the derivatives and years in which the 911 was produced the 1973 Targa was perhaps one of the most sought-after, the '73 had the narrower bumpers which are especially popular and deemed more attractive on the early 911 with a style that modern 'restomod' or backdated styles such as Singer replicate allowing top-down motoring with the glass back window which the model of course didn't start out with. This example was originally delivered to Germany and spent a vast majority of its life in Sweden with just two owners before arriving in the UK. The car was first registered in the UK in August 2021 and was treated to a comprehensive restoration between 2022 and 2023, totalling around £55,000. The restoration consisted of a full mechanical as well as cosmetic restoration including rebuilt S brakes which were optioned from new, new torsion bars, bushes, new engine wiring, new clutch, new engine cover, full engine rebuild, new spark plugs and coil, rebuilt distributor, rebuilt carburettors, rebuilt Targa top, new interior including period correct carpets, brand-new seats with houndstooth insert, new seat rails, detailed engine bay, full geometry and new tyres. Our vendor understands the importance of 'exercising' a classic car, so has made an effort to ensure the car has been used regularly since its completion and reports it is a joy to drive and is only being sold to make way for a new Porsche project. The car presents beautifully in metallic blue with refurbished Fuchs wheels and was clearly painted to a very good standard. The car is supplied with an extensive photographic and paper record of the restoration works, Swedish registration documents, UK V5C registration certificate and a Porsche Certificate of Conformity detailing the full original specification. This car would be just at home as a classic daily driver, or a car for high days and holidays in the summer months. Offered with an attractive estimate and ready to be enjoyed straight away.

Lot 160

1986 Ferrari 328 GTS Transmission: manualMileage:51768Perhaps one of the most recognisable designs ever penned for Ferrari by Pininfarina is that of the 308 & 328. The 308 was much different from Ferrari's first two-seat, mid-engined road car, the 246 Dino, as its design was angular, sharp and more forward thinking. Nevertheless, the 308 was an instant hit and it came to define sports cars of the late 1970s and early 1980s. As successful as the 308 was, Ferrari's engineers found ways to refine its design and mechanics without losing the flair which defined it. What emerged, was a car which was improved in every aspect; a car that could stand tall amongst its siblings; that car was the 328. The Ferrari 328 exhibited several subtle differences from its predecessor, including moulded bumpers, a slightly smaller front grille and a roof spoiler. Pininfarina's designers also smoothed out the shape of the body to make it appear slightly less aggressive overall. Inside, Ferrari introduced new more supportive seats and refined ergonomics, with improved general quality to make the car's driving experience more intuitive. Mechanically, overall capacity was raised to 3186cc through increasing the bore and stroke which helped to bring maximum horsepower to 270 at 7000rpm. It could also reach a top speed of 160mph and travel from 0-60 in a brisk 5.5 seconds. This particular example is one of the hugely desirable pre-ABS examples originally supplied in right hand drive guise to the UK market. Resplendent in Rosso Corsa over a tan leather interior, this example is supplied with a highly detailed maintenance record, showing no less than 20 services throughout its life including nine cambelt changes. The car spent a period of its life in Hong Kong, between 1991 and 1999, where it covered circa 30,000 of its 51,000 total miles and was maintained by Italian Motor Service, Hong Kong, who saw the car on ten occasions. The overall condition of the car is particularly impressive, all four wheels were recently refurbished, new tyres were fitted, freshly serviced and the paintwork has an excellent consistent shine and the interior presents beautifully to. 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster Transmission: automaticMileage:96537The Jaguar E-Type was ten years old and needed a new lease of life. History repeated itself and it was a huge success when Jaguar debuted its robust V12 engine in a sports car instead of the saloon for which it was designed. Despite its sports car heritage, Jaguar depended on saloon vehicles for its survival and had developed the twelve-cylinder engine to power them with sufficient torque and refinement. Larger and softer in nature with weight redistributed 53/47, the Series III had lost the wilds of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile to which it was arguably better suited. Robert Bell in Motor was quoted as saying at the time that all we expected to try was a new engine, but what in fact we drove was a new car. Not a yowling, aggressive Ferrari-like machine with which, perhaps, most people associate a V12 engine, but a very smooth, quiet and refined grand touring sports car.An original right hand drive matching numbers V12 roadster, this E-Type is finished in the delightful colour combination of Regency Red with a biscuit trim and was despatched from the factory on 11th September 1973 to Henlys London and was registered soon after. Fitted with an automatic gearbox, the car remains in good mechanical condition and we are informed it is in good running order. The paintwork has recently been refreshed to a good standard, all in all, this E-Type is a nicely presented usable example. Supplied with a history file including sundry invoices, a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, the factory handbook and a current V5 registration document. A very nice genuine example with a very realistic estimate.

1974 Datsun 260Z Transmission: manualMileage:24246The Nissan S30 (sold in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z and in other markets as the Datsun 240Z, then later as the 260Z and 280Z) was the first generation of Z GT two-seat coupé, produced by Nissan Motors Ltd of Japan from 1969 to 1978. It was designed by a team led by Mr. Yoshihiko Matsuo, the head of Nissan's Sports Car Styling Studio. HLS30 was the designation of the left hand drive model and HS30 for the right hand drive model. This model was sold in the United States for the 1974 model year only but was available in other countries until 1978. A three-speed automatic transmission was an option and the four-speed manual standard. 1974 brought, for the first time, to the S30 line a new 2+2 seating option, which offered room for four passengers and an extra 11.9" of wheelbase. These cars have a notably different roofline from the two-seat coupés, incorporating larger opening quarter panel windows. The 260Z claimed a few updates and improvements over the 240Z. The climate controls were more sensibly laid out and easier to work, and those cars with air conditioning now had the system integrated into the main climate control panel. There was also additional stiffness in the chassis due to a redesign of the chassis rails which were larger and extended further back than previous models. The 260Z debuted a redesigned dashboard and console and door panels for the interior, together with updated tail-lights.Originally registered in 1974, this 260Z is an original left hand drive example delivered new to California, USA. Imported to the UK in 2019, this Datsun was extensively recommissioned by Motor Parts Sussex and as such it is reported by the vendor to run and drive very well. In very good order throughout, the paintwork retains a deep shine and the chromework is bright, as to is the interior and engine bay which are both very well presented. Showing 24,246 miles on the odometer, the Datsun comes complete with a history file which includes various sundry bills and its current V5C registration document. These super stylish sports cars of the 70's are scarce and to find one in such good order is an opportunity not to be missed.

2012 Ferrari FF Transmission: automaticMileage:45700Traditionally, Ferrari's four-seater models had offered little more than '2+2' accommodation, but in 2011 the Prancing Horse finally grasped that particular nettle and introduced its first car capable of carrying four adults in reasonable comfort: the FF. And as if that wasn't enough, the FF was also the first Ferrari production car to incorporate four-wheel drive. Introduced at the Geneva Salon in March 2011, the FF effectively replaced the 612 Scaglietti in Ferrari's range, though featuring a three-door shooting brake-style body rather than its predecessor's traditional two-door fastback. At the time of its introduction, the FF's 6.3-litre normally aspirated V12 was the largest engine ever to feature in a production Ferrari, its 651 horsepower being sufficient for a top speed of 208mph, making the FF the world's fastest four-seater at the time of its introduction, according to Maranello. This example was registered new on 1st January 2012 and is offered in Grigio Silverstone silver with full Campionario tan leather. Highly specified from new which includes aluminium brake calipers, carbon fibre central zone and driver zone + LEDS, sports exhaust pipes, semi aniline leather interior and headliner with special colour stitching, Scuderia Ferrari shields, parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, 20-inch forged diamond wheels and high power hi-fi system. Having covered a modest 45,700 miles from new the FF presents very well indeed. The interior is in excellent condition as is the paintwork having been treated to a no expense spared ceramic coating, covering the paintwork, interior, wheels, brake calipers and glass completed by GTechniq, with four years warranty remaining. The front end was also protected with PPF (paint protection film) ready for use. Maintained to a high standard throughout its life the FF has been serviced by Ferrari Main dealer and specialists from new and in 2022 it had an extensive gearbox rebuild under warranty. Fitted with Pilot Sport 4S tyres all round which have done less than 5,000 miles and upgraded to touchscreen Apple Car Play with DAB and Bluetooth radio (original Ferrari head unit is included with the car). Accompanying the Ferrari is a sizeable history file containing its original handbook, service book and warranty book, its original Ferrari leather folder, both remote keys, and a Ferrari trickle charger. Its current UK registration document and an MoT valid until the back end of 2024.Service history: 01.01.2012 Supplied new by Graypaul, Nottingham 03.01.2013 Graypaul Ferrari, Nottingham 5,122 miles 13.02.2014 Graypaul Ferrari, Nottingham 11,100 miles 09.02.2015 Graypaul Ferrari, Nottingham 17,023 miles 09.03.2016 Graypaul Ferrari, Nottingham 21,085 miles 11.04.2017 Graypaul Ferrari, Nottingham 23,587 miles 04.04.2018 Maranello Ferrari, Egham 25,538 miles 21.03.2019 Graypaul Ferrari, Nottingham 28,880 miles 27.05.2020 Graypaul Ferrari, Birmingham 34,824 miles 08.04.2021 Graypaul Ferrari, Nottingham 37,544 miles 24.05.2022 Lancaster Ferrari, Colchester 40,859 miles 24.05.2023 DCT Scuderia Ferrari, Ascot 43,540 miles

2006 Chevrolet SSR Pick-up Convertible (6.0 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:1900The Chevrolet SSR (Super Sport Roadster) was a retractable hardtop convertible pick-up truck manufactured between 2003 and 2006. It featured retro styling and was based on the long wheelbase version of the Chevrolet Trail Blazer's platform. The SSR was powered by various engines during its production, including a 5.3 litre V8 and a 6.0 litre V8. The 2006 Chevrolet SSR was the final model year for this unique vehicle. It came with some notable features, such as a 6.0 litre V8 engine producing 395hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The engine was paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It was designed to combine the benefits of a sports car and a pick-up truck, providing a blend of performance and utility. This very retro Chevrolet SSR 6.0 litre V8 has covered a mere 1,900 miles from new and is finished in non-metallic bright red with a contrasting black leather interior. It was first registered in new in the UK on 6th October 2006 and became part of a private collection for 12 years until 11th December 2018, being transported to be serviced and MoT'd annually and then returned to its dry heated storage until the following year. The 6.0 litre (Corvette C6 engine 400bhp) versions were built for less than 12 months and are a serious collector's car. The extras include the electric folding roof that fully retracts behind the front seats, heated memory seats, climate control, cruise control, factory 19" chrome alloys, factory radio/CD, painted colour coded centre consul, electrically operated rear tail gate which has a solid tonneau load cover. It has factory side steps, detachable towbar, fully lined rear loading area with polished wood floor rails and SSR logo storage bags. In other words, this vehicle comes with every factory option when new. It has maintained a cult following among enthusiasts who appreciate its unique styling and blend of characteristics from different vehicle types. This must be the lowest mileage example in the UK, Europe and USA on the market today and would be almost impossible to repeat.

1959 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and on the roadster, the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather and chrome. On the early drophead coupés, an aluminium centre dash panel with an 'X' pattern engraving was fitted which looked similar to the early 3.8 E-Type. It was discontinued after June 1958. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm but most cars were fitted with the SE engine that had a modified cylinder head with larger exhaust valves rated at 210bhp at 5500rpm. These were high performance, well appointed sports touring cars capable of 137mph and 0-60 in 7.8 seconds and could accomplish long distances with alacrity. This lovely, original right hand drive drophead coupé XK150 is fitted with a overdrive and was registered new on 17th July 1959 and has had just three private owners since. Supplied new to Coombs of Guildford, this Jaguar remained with its first owner until it was acquired by a Mr. Donald Marshall of Sunbury-on-Thames in 1964. Mr. Marshall was a qualified engineer and Jaguar enthusiast and during his near 60-year ownership he looked after the car where necessary. During his tenure he upgraded the engine to a 3.8 litre unit making it a much more usable example. Acquired some three years ago by our vendor, this XK150 was treated to much maintenance work including a no expense spared body off, rotisserie restoration and as such presents in wonderful condition throughout. Other notable works include a new clutch, new brakes, new hood, a new alloy petrol tank, and new wheels and tyres. This Jaguar XK150 has had a huge amount of money spent on it. It now represents a true driver's car and is ready for its next owner and further use, such as the great range of national or international rallies currently on offer; something it has been perfectly designed for. Guide price £70,000-£80,000 Interested parties should note that this example is fitted with an upgraded 3.8 litre E-Type cylinder head along with its original overdrive gearbox.

1961 Daimler SP250 'Ex-Metropolitan Police' Transmission: automaticMileage:93283In the late 1950s, the Metropolitan police had a major problem with café racer motorcyclists. Groups of youths on motorbikes would gather together at a local café, put a record on the jukebox and then race their bikes along a set course getting back to the café before the record had stopped playing. Accidents occurred and in an attempt to put a stop to the practice, the Met's proposal was to have a fast car that could actually catch the bikers. The existing fleet of Wolseley saloons was not up to the task so they looked instead at sports cars. The Daimler SP250 (Dart) was the answer! This had a 2.5 litre lightweight V8 engine and was capable of 125mph and 0-60 in 10 seconds, which for 1959 was remarkable. The Met bought 26 Darts between 1961 and 1964 and soon got them into service to be used as high-speed pursuit cars based at separate Traffic Garages situated over the London area. The results were impressive with many speeding bikers being caught and the number of fatal road accidents dropped. Unlike today, the idea then was that you see a police car and thereby slow down...no stealth tactics for these boys.Borg-Warner Model 8 three-speed automatic cars destined for police use, like the one offered here, were modified by Daimler with the fitting of a handle in the centre of the dashboard which, when pulled, locks the gearbox into second gear allowing a speed range from 0-85mph in a single gear. The gearbox normally runs in two gears only, with a 'low' ratio for manual selection if required and the slightly higher gearing resulted in an increased top speed compared to manual gearbox cars. The Metropolitan police found this to be better for town work and high-speed chases, and it was also found to be more economical, avoiding the clutch wear that a manual car would develop with usage between 18 and 24 hours a day.Traffic police in Bristol, Cambridge, Liverpool, Manchester, Southend and Surrey also used the SP250 for speed enforcement, as did police forces in Australia and New Zealand. After the opening of the first section of the M1 in 1959, the Bedfordshire police used the SP250 for motorway patrol prior to the arrival of the 70mph limit in 1965.This example was registered with the Metropolitan police and was fitted with the optional Borg-Warner DG automatic gearbox, Bell and Pye radio equipment, and has more recently been fitted with wire wheels and upgraded servo brakes. Supplied with the car is its original buff logbook confirming the first owner to be the Metropolitan police, records of previous ownership, press cuttings, old MoT records, sundry bills, and a current MoT valid until January 2024. Previously this Daimler has been reviewed in several articles including Police Car UK and Classic and Sports Car magazine. This Daimler is a must for any collector and offered without reserve this is a rare opportunity not to be missed.Guide price £40,000 - £60,000.

1991 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton Transmission: manualMileage:17823The Lotus Carlton was a Vauxhall Carlton upgraded by Lotus Cars to be a 177mph sports saloon with acceleration to equal contemporary supercars. When released, it was the fastest four-door saloon car in the world. The external differences were minimal with the addition of a rear spoiler, air intakes on the bonnet, Lotus badges on the front wings and bootlid, a bodykit and considerably wider wheel arches. The car was only sold in one colour, a shade of British Racing Green called Imperial Green, a very dark green that in anything but direct light appears black. Lotus re-worked the 2969cc, 24V straight six used in the Carlton GSi and bored it out to 3615cc. In addition, twin Garrett T25 turbochargers were attached resulting in 377bhp and torque at 419lb/ft. Power was transmitted through a six-speed ZF manual gearbox and power was driven to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. The brakes were supplied by AP with 330mm ventilated discs all round and racing calipers. This absolutely stunning low mileage example of this brutish British saloon is probable the one of the finest examples of this model being offered to the marketplace presently. Offered in its original Imperial Green Pearlescent paintwork (as all the models were when produced) and with a black anthracite connolly leather interior (standard also), both of which are exemplary in their condition. It comes with a very good history including, Lotus book, Certificate of Provenance, old MoT test certificates and a present MoT test certificate which expires in October 2024. The car's current private registration is being retained by the current owner and an age-related plate will be issued by the DVLA. This is the best example of this model we have ever seen and it is undoubtably one for the collector/investor. Simply unbeatable in every way!Interested parties should note that the private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead. The correct registration is shown in the catalogue, and we are awaiting receipt of the new V5 registration document from DVLA which may not be present at the time of the auction.

1955 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Transmission: manualMileage:32401In 1954, Mercedes displayed a concept version of the 190SL at the New York Auto show alongside the 300 SL 'Gullwing'. This concept came to market in 1955 as the 190 SL. A more approachable, less intense sports car compared to the record-breaking 300 SL Gullwing. While the 190 SL featured a carburetted 1.9 litre in-line four-cylinder engine compared to the 300 SL's direct-injected 3 litre slant six, they shared basic engine design, suspension system, and level of detail and craftsmanship which defined Mercedes-Benz. The new engine, which shared the same bore and stroke of the 300 SL, was paired with dual Solex carburettors and produced just over 100 horsepower. This powerplant was mated with a fully synchronized four-speed transmission which sent power to the rear swing axle. The 190 SL implemented the same suspension systems as the 300 SL, albeit with a more stable low pivot point assembly, affording it confident handling and drivability without the tail-happy nature of the 300 SL Gullwing. While the 190 SL did not quite offer the performance of other sports cars of the era, the impeccable quality and attractive styling made the 190 SL a massive success selling 25,881 units before production ceased in 1963. Many of these models were delivered to the United States, where its driving demeanour and elegant styling were highly valued. Nevertheless, the factory did offer an option for the casual weekend racer: a Rennsport packaged 190 SLR, which included options of an aero screen, cut down doors which one could convert, and bumpers removed to reduce weight. A Rennsport derived 190 SL participated in the Mille Miglia, hence its eligibility today. Other notable achievements include a 1956 Macao Grand Prix victory for Doug Steane, and Mr W. Sulke's SLR won the 1958 Rally of Hong Kong. This excellent, very early 1955 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was built to European specification for Italian delivery to its first owner. The car then ended up with a Swiss collector were the car remained in storage until it was purchased and brought to the UK around 2010. It retains many of the early features of the first production 190 SLs like the desirable early specifications the 'Gullwing' type sports seats providing for a firmer and sportier seating position and the small rear light units. An extensive ground-up restoration at a cost of £100,000 was carried out by a leading marque specialist who retained as much attention to detail as possible with the use of original parts. The bodyshell was stripped down to bare metal and needed very little work to the outer body panels, a credit to its original state. Running superbly on original Solex carburettors set up by Parry Chana of Lux Classics. All the restoration work was completed in 2015, in time for the 190 SL sixth anniversary celebration held at Brooklands where this car was regarded to be the best car at the show. A matching engine and chassis numbers 190 SL restored in its original black exterior colour (DB040) complemented by black mohair hood and cream leather interior. The car has had little use since being restored so when taken to a couple of classic car shows this year it was the best car of the show at Christchurch and was 2nd at Simply Mercedes held at Beaulieu. This 190 SL is supplied with a V5C registration document and comes with extensive history file detailing the restoration, original documentation dating back to 1960s and invoices to the 1970s. A small window hardtop comes complete with all chrome fittings together with a radio delete plate. This excellent 190 SL is eligible and well suited for the modern Mille Miglia event which is reserved only for cars that participated in the original, historic race held between 1927 to 1957. This is a crucial factor for many classic car enthusiasts, as it was recently discovered that a Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was privately entered in the 1956 race and thus joins the privileged list of vehicles.

1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Fixedhead Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:60548Powered by the uprated 4.2 litre engine, compared to the 3.8 litre unit fitted to the previous model, the series II E-Type offers longer legs for those continental drivers as well as offering a more practical sports car experience. Those classic E-Type styling cues though, are still very much present with that most beautiful of bonnet lines extending all the way back, taking in the fixedhead cockpit and the ending in the beautifully curved rear end. Interestingly, the DNA from Sir William Lyons only extended to about 1,000 units of this model making it, actually, a rare iteration of this particular E-Type Jaguar. This classic Signal Red example is supplied with a comprehensive history file detailing works going back many years. Most recently though, is a service earlier this year to include a partial carburettor strip down and rebuild. Before that in 2020, a new fuel tank with galvanised assembly, sender unit and gaskets were fitted including a clear-out of all fuel lines with all parts supplied from SNG Barratt. Back in 2010, both seats were removed, carpet taken out, floor checked for rust and treated. The carpet was then refitted including seat foam, carpet shelf and speaker housing unit. Whilst there is minor corrosion to the wheel arches, the condition of the paint is good and the chrome wire wheels are in excellent condition. There is detailed and photographic documentation, in 2009, of the rear subframe removal and strip down. It was then sandblasted with components powder-coated and reassembled with new brake pads and discs fitted, the calipers refurbished followed by reassembly. Supplied with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate and MoT test certificate valid until March 2024, this is a very usable matching numbers example and rare to find offered without reserve.

1979 Porsche 928 Transmission: automaticMileage:91302Porsche's intended replacement for the 911 may not have achieved that particular goal, but it wasn't from a lack of performance or technological wizardry. An alloy V8 was attached to a rear-mounted gearbox and the galvanised body had aluminium doors and bonnet. The 928 was launched to a fanfare and surprised many by being named 'European Car of the Year'. Critics immediately recognised the advances inherent in the 928 over the 911 and the car was universally praised as one of the greatest 'GT' cars of all time. It handled, was quick, comfortable and looked fantastic. With the 928, Porsche created a serious long-distance grand-touring car that could also tackle twisting B-roads with ease, thanks to super-direct steering, 50/50 weight distribution and a clever Weissach rear axle that kept the car firmly planted. Many road testers found that their nerve ran out long before the 928's grip. Styling was the same in both 1978 and 1979, with the body lacking both front and rear spoilers. The distinctive rounded rear end without a spoiler is an unmistakable distinguishing feature of the early 928 and is now considered the purest example of the design. This early example of this now very retro design of the iconic Porsche 928 is presented in red with tan/black checkered interior. It was purchased by the late owner in 1990 and used sparingly whilst in his ownership. Its mighty 4500cc V8 engine is mated to an automatic gearbox which always provided plenty of power when needed and with a superb driving position, Porsche thus created the ultimate executive sports coupé. The car comes with its driver's manual, original maintenance records which go as far back as 1979 and has a current MoT test certificate which expires in August 2024. We are informed that there appears to be a small leak in the power steering hose, which was an advisory when the MoT test was carried out but not an essential repair, hence its pass certificate. The odometer reading is currently 91,302 but within the paperwork, one can see that there appears to be discrepancy in this recorded mileage, with no explanation. A great opportunity to purchase one of Porsche's greatest models and being offered with no reserve, this provides the option to purchase at a fraction of its original selling price back in 1979. The car has not been used regularly for a while and although it has a MoT and it starts and drives, we would recommend some re commissioning would be necessary.

1965 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda Transmission: automaticMileage:In 1960, executive director Fritz Nallinger proposed to develop a completely new SL design, based on technology from the W112. This led to the W113 platform, with an improved fuel-injected 2.3 litre M127 inline six-cylinder engine. The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971. They were known as the 'pagoda roof' SL. Most of these early SLs were sold with both the removable hardtop and a soft top. The 230 SL made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where Nallinger introduced it as follows; It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of travelling comfort. This right hand drive, 230 SL Pagoda is one of the finest examples we have offered. Originally registered on 1st June 1965, this example has benefitted from being well cared for by its enthusiast owner, who can be found most weekends detailing this impressive Mercedes. The car presents extremely well in gleaming grey metallic coachwork over immaculate red leather. This look is enhanced with a new soft top hood and a factory supplied hardtop and the car benefits from the rare factory option of a kinderseat . 1976 Aston Martin AM Vantage Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:48588The Aston Martin AM Vantage was the first model produced by the new Aston Martin team after their purchase of the company from David Brown. Numerous improvements were made to the DBS6 on which the car was based, the most significant of these being the change in the frontal styling to incorporate single headlamps rather than the twin headlight set up used in the DBS. The car was produced during 1972/3 and only 70 of this model were manufactured, thus making it a rare motor car. All these fantastic cars were 'Vantage-engined' to the highest state of tune for this engine 'SVC'. They represent a special place in Aston Martin history as they were the last six-cylinder cars with a heritage stemming from the greatest era of the firm's racing history and the last to be fitted with wire wheels. The model benefited from many improvements developed and implemented throughout the five years of DBS production, including many mechanical and cosmetic changes. Of most significance and, like the last fifty examples of the DBS, the car used the same later 'dog-leg' ZF five-speed gearbox as used in the DBSV8. It is notable that, though the V8-engined model with the same bodystyle was introduced in 1970, demand for the six-cylinder AM Vantage continued through 1973 until the factory no longer offered the alternative. Though the V8-engined cars are fine in their own right, this affection and appreciation for the six-cylinder cars has had a direct bearing on demand and they now command a premium in the market up to 50% higher than their V8 counterpart.Originally registered on 3rd March 1976 this Aston Martin presents beautifully in Stronsay Silver with a sumptuous burgundy leather interior. Prior to the sale to the previous owner in 2013 the car was extensively restored by respected marque specialists Runneymede Motor Company, one of the most attractive things about the car at the time was the 44,000 miles showing on the odometer. During the restoration the body was stripped back to bare metal and repainted in its current colour, the paint finish being of a very high quality. The engine was rebuilt and upgraded to 4.2 litres. The automatic transmission was upgraded to a five-speed T5 Tremac gearbox with an uprated clutch. A Harvey Bailey handling kit was also fitted transforming the handling of this AM Vantage. A new wiring loom was fitted along with additional soundproofing. Supplied with a V5C registration document, together with a significant history folder confirming the extent of the restoration. This quintessentially British sports car is offered for sale with a sensible reserve given the condition and mileage, we are proud to present this Aston Martin to the market. Come and see for yourself why this car is special"¦.you won't be disappointed.

1958 Aston Martin DB Mk. III Tickford Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:12200The Aston Martin DB Mk. III, a classic British sports car produced from 1957 to 1959, holds a special place in automotive history and remains a beloved icon of its era. Building upon the success of its predecessors, the DB Mk. III represented a culmination of Aston Martin's design and engineering prowess, offering a blend of performance, luxury, and style. Under the sleek and elegant exterior, the DB Mk. III was powered by a 2.9-litre straight-six engine that delivered impressive power and responsiveness. This engine was coupled with a four-speed manual transmission, allowing for spirited driving and a top speed of around 120 mph. The car's handling was exceptional, with a refined suspension system that offered a comfortable yet sporty ride. The DB Mk. III featured a handcrafted interior, exuding a sense of opulence and sophistication. Its leather upholstery, wooden dashboard, and fine attention to detail made it a desirable choice for discerning enthusiasts. The exterior design was characterized by its iconic grille and an aerodynamic body that hinted at the car's performance capabilities.Originally registered on 22nd April 1958 this Aston Martin presents beautifully in Midnight Blue with tan leather interior. In recent years this car has benefited from significant financial investment, the result of which is a delightful Aston Martin DB Mk. III Tickford Coupé, which we are proud to offer for sale. Owned by the current registered keeper since 2010, this DB Mk. III has, during his stewardship, had a complete repaint by marque specialist Mitchell Motors in Wiltshire, this was carried out in 2019. Earlier than this, in 2014, Feltham Aston Martin experts Davron Engineering completed a full engine rebuild, including an unleaded fuel conversion and a gearbox rebuild. The rear axle was rebuilt in 2018. With invoices totaling some £60,000 it is clear this Aston Martin has been lovingly looked after with no expense spared. We are advised UYR 420 drives with no known faults, to be expected of such a well-cared for example. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a history folder, the DB Mk. III Tickford is generally thought of as the last of the 'Feltham Cars' prior to production being moved to Newport Pagnell.

**Please note the registration number of this car is XCA 955K as per the photographs, not XCA 995K as erroneously catalogued.**A beautifully restored B Roadster, thoughtfully upgraded and presenting well - offered at No Reserve.Introduced in 1962, the MG B Roadster enjoyed an 18-year production run. With nicely balanced handling and a good turn of speed, it merited the old MG marketing slogan 'Safety Fast'. Based around a monocoque chassis featuring independent coil-sprung front suspension and a leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle, its 1,798cc B series four-cylinder engine was allied to a 4-speed manual transmission. Capable of over 100mph, the provision of front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering greatly aided control.First registered on 4th April 1972, towards the end of Mk II production, XCA 995K displays 84,900 recorded and credible miles and has been enjoyed by just six former keepers since 1972. It was the subject of an extensive bodywork restoration and paint in the early 2000s, with many receipts from The Welsh MG Centre and Moss Europe that document the purchase of new front wings, a new fuel tank, bumper parts and grille pieces (to name just a few items) since 2001. Finished in gleaming British Racing Green and sitting on chrome wires, the refurbishment was obviously carried to an excellent standard as the B still presents beautifully. The car also benefits from a Kenlowe fan, electronic ignition and is fitted with overdrive. Inside, the cockpit has been freshened with an aftermarket Burr Walnut-effect dashboard trim and complementing it all is a set of cream leather MG F seats with cream door cards and matching carpets. It's supplied with the aforementioned invoices, old MOT Certificates and related MOT garage test invoices, its V5C and the normal manuals etc.People can be a bit dismissive about MG Bs, possibly because there are so many around, but they are handsome, affordable classics that go and handle well, and with the top down on a summer's day, represent all that we love about British sports cars, particularly when they look this good.SpecificationMake: MGModel: B ROADSTERYear: 1972Chassis Number: GHN52748279Registration Number: XCA 995KTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 84900 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Cream leatherClick here for more details and images

Lot 106

Very rare Christopher Neil Cabriolet conversion of Lotus' four-seat Elan, on offer at No Reserve. Whilst current market values often don't show it, the Elan Plus 2 was a pivotal car for Lotus when it launched in 1967. Its Ron Hickman lines and shared name may have pinned it with the petite breakthrough Elan of five years prior, but the Plus 2 was much more than a mere variant of the first mass market Lotus. It was the marque's first real concerted push towards the upmarket sports car sector it inhabits today. Where its junior sibling was aimed squarely at the enthusiastic hobbyist, the Plus 2 was conceived to tempt the affluent young family man out of his Jaguar and into a Lotus for the first time. Consequently, the Lotus was generously adorned with Walnut veneers, leather, gauges, switches and the airy interior required by arriving young executives and their families. In confirmation of this, the Plus 2 was the first Lotus not available in self-assembly form. However, despite its larger overall dimensions, the Plus 2 remained true to the Lotus 'simplify and add lightness' mantra, and the extended and widened Elan backbone chassis ensured that the Plus 2 retained the urgency and reactiveness that had proved such a hit with the original. This was something special - a light, sporty concept that was brand new to this sector of the market, and so much more than an enlarged Elan.We imagine that the management at Lotus must have discussed, at some point, the possibility of chopping the top off the Elan Plus 2, but it never happened, leaving the field wide open for enterprising Lotus dealer and marque expert, Christopher Neil, to do just that with his CN Cabriolets a few years later.First registered in 1969, XWW 50G started life as a Lotus Yellow Plus 2 Coupé before being converted to an open-top car using a Christopher Neil conversion kit. Around the year 2000, it was in need of a restoration and this was duly carried out. The work included a new chassis, sills, a full engine rebuild, new brakes, a wiring loom and finally it was refinished in a very attractive shade of Indigo Blue. Since being owned by our vendor, an ex-Formula 1 mechanic, it has been further improved by fitting new suspension from Tony Thompson Racing in 2021 with the invoice in the history file for £2,871, Sue Miller driveshafts, an aluminium fuel tank and aluminium radiator, and a new mohair roof and tonneau from Autotrim for £1,440. It's supplied with an original Christopher Neil Conversions sales brochure, multiple receipts, MOTs etc. and its V5C.Presented to a good standard, this is a rare car and you are unlikely to see another on the road. Remarkably, it's on offer at No Reserve, making this a tempting proposition.Specification Make: LOTUS Model: ELAN +2 CONVERTIBLE Year: 1969 Chassis Number: 500570 Registration Number: XWW 50G Transmission: Manual Engine Number: H17326B Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 28000 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

A lovely example of the British Cobra. Designed in part by renowned American car designer and racer, Carroll Shelby, in an attempt to raise the declining fortunes of the Rootes Group, the Tiger was penned around the popular Sunbeam Alpine bodyshell with V8 motivation to compete successfully in World markets where larger capacity engines and sports car styling were at the forefront of late-1960s motoring.Codenamed 'Thunderbolt', the whole project took place without the knowledge of Lord Rootes, and when he found out, he got 'very grumpy' by all accounts, although he had the good sense to get a prototype shipped to Coventry and was deeply impressed with the car when it arrived. Shelby had envisaged assembling them in America as he had done with AC Cobras, however Rootes opted to pay him a royalty on each unit and use West Bromwich-based Jensen Motors to build the cars, as they had spare capacity having just ceased their Volvo P1800 assembly contract. A total of some 7,085 Sunbeam Tigers were eventually produced, including 536 of the now very rare 4.7-litre Mk2 versions which arrived in 1967. The final cars rolled off the lines in 1968, production being shelved when Chrysler took over the Rootes Group, their new bosses unable to sanction a car powered by their arch-rivals, Ford. This Tiger was produced new in 1966 then marked for export to California where it was first registered in 1967. Repatriated to the UK in 1989, it was purchased by marque specialists, Alpine West Midlands, and the proprietors, Mr & Mrs Farmer, decided in view of its remarkably sound 'California Car' condition, to keep it as their own personal vehicle. As their business revolved around Alpines and Tigers, it was important that their personal car was a bit of a 'showroom window' so, during their ownership, it was converted to right-hand drive, treated to some cosmetic paintwork whilst retaining all of its original panels, the dashboard was re-veneered in Walnut, and the car was generally detailed to reflect their standards.Ownership then passed to a private couple based in Germany who owned the car for the next 22 years until it joined our vendor's significant private Collection of British Motor Cars nearly five years ago. This is a lovely, sound example of the Tiger, which has benefitted from living in California, six years with marque enthusiasts and the next 25 years under caring private ownership. Tigers continue to gain momentum in the market, and this is a good one that will reward a closer inspection.Specification Make: SUNBEAM Model: TIGER MK1A Year: 1967 Chassis Number: B38200249LRXFE Registration Number: KOM 310E Transmission: Manual Engine Number: HEHB5A18F Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 62 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

An original ex-Metropolitan Police Daimler Dart, a rare survivor and restored to a Concours standard. An unusual departure for a firm more noted for its stately limousines, the SP250 sports car was Daimler's final fling before its acquisition by Jaguar. Aimed at the North American market and launched in 1959, the SP250 (originally entitled Dart) employed a separate ladder-type chassis on which sat controversially-styled fibreglass coachwork manufactured by Daimler themselves. Four-wheel disc brakes were an unusual feature at the time but unquestionably the car's biggest virtue was its magnificent 2.5-litre V8 engine. An outstandingly flexible unit, the smaller of Daimler's two Edward Turner designed V8s produced 140bhp, an output good enough to propel the SP250 to a top speed of 125mph. In keeping with the demands of its intended market, automatic transmission was available as an option. In the late 1950s, the Metropolitan Police had a major problem with what were called, 'Café Racers'. Groups of youths on motorbikes would gather together at a local café, put a record on the jukebox and then race their bikes along a set course, getting back to the café before the record had stopped playing. Accidents occurred and, in an attempt to put a stop to the practice, the Met’s proposal was to have a fast car that could actually catch the bikers. The existing fleet of Wolseley saloons was not up to the task, so they looked instead at sports cars, concluding that the Daimler SP250 Dart was the answer! This had a 2.5-litre lightweight V8 engine and was capable of 125mph and 0-60 in ten seconds which, for 1959, was remarkable. The Met bought 26 Darts between 1961 and 1964 and soon got them into service to be used as high-speed pursuit cars based at separate Traffic Garages situated over the London area. The results were impressive, with many speeding bikers being caught, and the number of fatal road accidents dropped. Unlike today, the idea then was that you see a Police car and thereby slow down - no stealth tactics for these boys.Borg-Warner Model 8 3-speed automatic cars destined for Police use were modified by Daimler with the fitting of a handle in the centre of the dashboard which, when pulled, locks the gearbox into second gear allowing a speed range from 0-85mph in a single gear. The gearbox normally runs in two gears only, with a ‘low’ ratio for manual selection if required and the slightly higher gearing resulted in an increased top speed compared to manual gearbox cars. After the opening of the first section of the M1 in 1959, the Bedfordshire police used the SP250 for motorway patrol prior to the arrival of the 70mph limit in 1965.The sparkling example on offer here, 550 CLU, was registered with the Metropolitan Police on 1st June 1961 as Fleet Number 240T. It bears Engine No. 96223, Chassis No.102820 and was fitted with the optional Borg-Warner DG. Automatic gearbox, an AT Head Calibrated Speedometer and Pye Radio equipment. The Met disposed of 550 CLU on 30th August 1967, having been driven 97,325 miles in less than five years, and it was sold on to a Mr Killamsy of 2 Winter Street, London SW11 (copy record in file). It was subsequently purchased by Claude Kearley, President of the Daimler SP250 Owners Club (2007-2009) who commenced a photo-documented restoration including engine, gearbox and drive train to Concours standards. It became our vendor's property in 2016 and has been much enjoyed ever since, taking part in all sorts of events and is a multi-award winner including second place in the 2017 East Coast Run and first Place, Sledmere 2017. It’s been an NEC exhibit three years running and was to be an entrant in Zoute Concours d’Elegance prior to the COVID lockdown. When 'Oxford Diecast' chose to model a Police SP250 for their 1/43 scale range, 550 CLU was the chosen car.Supplied with the car are its V5C and previous ownership docs, a copy of the Met Historic Fleet Disposal Records, period copy photographs of actual use when in service, press cuttings, photos of surviving drivers (at 2013), MOTs, Owners’ Manual, accessories manual and more.Offered from a significant private Collection of British motor cars, this Daimler is a must for any collector/investor and needs to be viewed to fully appreciate the finish and detail that has gone into its fastidious restoration.Obviously this immaculate Dart can be enjoyed in much the same way that we all enjoy our classic cars but, in addition, it’s regularly in demand for meets and shows and would be welcome at events run by the Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club, the Daimler Dart Owners Club, the Police Vehicle Club and naturally local County Shows and Village Fetes. If that’s what you have in mind, this rare 1960s classic could keep you busy for the rest of your days.Specification Make: DAIMLER Model: SP250 Year: 1961 Chassis Number: 102820 Registration Number: 550 CLU Transmission: Auto Engine Number: 96223 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images

Multiple International Concours-winner and one of the finest examples available today. When Michelotti's sharp-suited new TR4 was unveiled at the London Motor Show in 1961, the car looked thoroughly modern, especially when compared with the venerable TR3A that it replaced. However, the reality was that, under the skin, the car was still very much a TR3A as little more than the sleek bodywork was actually new. Despite this, the TR4 and the TR4A that succeeded it were amongst the fastest affordable sports cars on offer throughout the 1960s. Cheap to buy and run, the car's road manners, however, left some room for improvement over the TR3A, despite the TR4 having gained rack and pinion steering, wider front and rear tracks to make it more surefooted, and an all-synchro gearbox. However, as stylish transport, they were pretty much unbeatable. All it cried out for, to compete with the new wave of GT saloons, was more power. Lots more. The standard 2-litre GT6 engine was tried and, although smooth, was actually no quicker than the old tractor-derived four pot. In the end, the solution was remarkably simple. The straight-six was enlarged by 500cc to a lusty 2.5-litres, the cylinder-head redesigned and a more sporty camshaft fitted, all of which resulted in a much more 'manly' power unit, albeit a little 'lumpy' at low revs. Fuel-injection proved the answer to that particular problem and, in October 1967, the TR5 was launched. Outwardly, the car was barely discernible from the TR4A, but the new engine, complete with Lucas fuel-injection turned the '5' into a genuine performance car, with a handy 150bhp on tap. Realistically, the car was effectively a stop-gap and only had to last around two years until Karmann had finished its work on the replacement, the TR6, however, with the benefit of hindsight, the TR5 is arguably the best of the lot, enjoying the great unsullied looks of the TR4 but with the raunchiness of the TR6. Only 2,947 TR5s were ever built, with 1,161 of those being finished for the UK-market and, today, only around 500 are believed to remain on UK roads.Presented in striking Jasmine Yellow and optioned with overdrive, this rare 1968 UK-market car has benefitted from a money-no-object restoration to a breathtakingly high standard. For over 20 years prior to work commencing, Simon Eaton and his engineer father, already prolific Triumph collectors, set out on a treasure hunt to source all available new/old stock and boxed 'Stanpart' components. Their brief was simple - to build the very best example possible. Well-known Triumph restorer, Michael Papworth, was to provide the Eatons with the ideal basis for their project, reluctantly parting with his stalled TR5 restoration project - a desirable home-soil example with just one former custodian from new. Over subsequent years, the car was stripped and progress was made. A brand new chassis by CTM was commissioned as the starting platform, but utilized N/OS turrets and steering column brackets and absolutely nothing reconditioned was fitted. The inner bodyshell and Stanpart panelwork were prepared and finished by respected restorer, Mark Johnson of Jules Bodycraft. Simon's father was tasked with the meticulous job of rebuilding the car's fuel-injected 'six' to its original factory specification, including balancing the crankshaft. The stated 150bhp is transmitted through a fully rebuilt gearbox with overdrive featuring all Stanpart internals and a new/old stock Laycock three-piece clutch. Upholsterer to HRH Queen Elizabeth II, Gary Wright of Milton Keynes was chosen as the ideal candidate to retrim the car's interior (all to original specification) and provide weather protection in the form of a perfectly fitting mohair hood. Finished off by a set of polished chrome wire wheels, this spectacular TR5 is one of the best we have ever seen.Upon completion, the car received much critical acclaim and has won a plethora of high-profile Concours d'Elegance events contested by Triumph owners from all over Europe including:2000 Meguiars / TR Register International - Best Standard TR5 - 2502004 Meguiars / TR Register International - Masters Class Winner2007 Meguiars / TR Register International - Best Paintwork2010 Meguiars / TR Register International - Best Standard TR4-5The TR was purchased by our vendor a few years ago, and he has continued to cherish and maintain it, including fitting the lovely elm dashboard, a new and correct fuel tank, a reconditioned diff, Waxoyled the underside and the bodywork has been polished and ceramic coated. It's also had an electronic fuel injection and ignition system fitted, however the original mechanical unit is carefully boxed and comes with the car as does the original steering wheel and boss.As you might expect from such fastidious owners, the car is supplied with a substantial quantity of paperwork, photographs which completely document the mammoth restoration and many of the aforementioned awards. Truly a 'Best of Breed' example that couldn't be replicated for double today's guide figure, we invite and encourage your viewing of this rare and desirable TR to confirm the sheer quality on offer.Specification Make: TRIUMPH Model: TR5 Year: 1969 Chassis Number: CP26690 Registration Number: HBH 10G Transmission: Manual Engine Number: CP910 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 2241 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

The 300 marked a post-war return to Mercedes-Benz tradition of building high-performance, luxury automobiles of the highest quality. Daimler-Benz AG emerged from the smoking rubble of World War II in somewhat precarious health, with production plants that had been pretty comprehensively levelled by Allied bombing. Far from being a broken nation, the resilience of the workforce was remarkable, and Mercedes-Benz resumed car production in 1946, albeit with the pre-war 170V, a modest middle-class car that had been their best-seller in the 1930s. However, in less than six years, the company was sufficiently confident to return to the luxury market when the Mercedes 300 was introduced at the 1951 Frankfurt Motor Show, and for the duration of the 1950s, Mercedes-Benz prestige line-up was based on the 300 range, at the heart of which was essentially the same superb 2,996cc overhead-camshaft six-cylinder engine found in the legendary 300SL 'Gullwing'. The 300 Saloon was aimed squarely at Captains of Industry and Heads of State - indeed, the model was nicknamed 'Adenauer' after Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. In office from 1949 to 1963, he employed six custom convertible, hardtop, and landaulet versions during his tenure. Inside, the 300 was beautifully executed in polished wood, with deep bucket seats trimmed in either cloth or leather, and a division was available as an option for those who preferred to be chauffeur driven. Improvements came with the 300B of 1954 in the form of twin Solex carburettors, along with servo-assisted brakes and minor styling changes, while the 300C model of September 1955 saw the option of a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic for the American market. Introduced in August 1957, the 300D was the linear successor to the 300C, with a longer wheelbase, fuel injection, and unique hardtop configuration transforming it into a pillarless 'Phaeton'. An additional 4" of wheelbase provided greater rear legroom, equalling that of the long wheelbase Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Removable rear quarter-lights allowed an unobstructed view in and out from the front vent window all the way to the back, much valued in the model's popular role as a 'parade car'. Employing a slightly detuned version of the 300 SL sports cars Bosch fuel-injected engine, the 300D produced 180bhp at 5,500rpm. Automatic transmission was standard and power brakes, power steering, and Artic-Kar air-conditioning were added as options.Offered here is a truly magnificent 1959 Mercedes-Benz (W189) 300D, delivered new in right-hand drive to Australia. Presented in Schwartz/black paintwork with a remarkably well-preserved luxurious Crimson leather interior. This particular 'Adenauer' has benefitted from the warm, dry Australian climate. It's fitted with a matching numbers, fuel-injected, 3-litre straight-six producing around 180bhp coupled to a 3-speed automatic transmission. Having formed part of a small private Collection in recent years, the 300D's bodywork has benefitted from some cosmetic attention with the underside also in good order as might be expected from a vehicle from a dry country. Only 2,500 miles since a substantial restoration, this elegant 120 Coupé remains in fabulous condition. A car-starved Britain, still trundling around in perpendicular pre-war hangover vehicles, glimpsed the future in October 1948 with the launch of the Jaguar XK120 at the Earls Court Motor Show. Production commenced in 1949 in Coventry, and the XK's swoopy shape and stylish occupants would become a common sight on British roads over the next 15 years. It heralded the arrival of Jaguar's famous 3.4-litre twin overhead camshaft XK engine, (the basis of all their engines for the next 25 years) with an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draught SU carburettors producing nearly 160bhp. The 120 referred to the car's top speed which, at the time, made it the fastest production car in the world. Jaguar seems to have always had a flair for marketing and to illustrate that the car's top speed was not a figment of a publicist's imagination as in May 1949, on the Jabbeke to Aeltre autoroute, an XK120 with its hood and side screens in place recorded a speed of 126mph, and no less than 132mph with the hood and windscreen detached and an undertray fitted. The car was in almost instant demand and went on to spawn the famous XK lineage of fast and elegant sports cars. This splendid XK120 was delivered new to Hoffman, New York on 4th September 1951. It turned heads in the US for many years before returning to the UK in July 2004 looking very tired and in need of restoration. Renowned Jaguar restorers, Beacon Garage in Doncaster, inherited that particular task and a comprehensive last nut and bolt rebuild was completed in 2012. The car was converted to right-hand drive, fitted with a C-Type cylinder head, upgraded leather bucket seats and chrome wire wheels - there are receipts on file totalling £80,000 from this period and viewing of the extensive file is highly recommend. Inspected by the Jaguar Drivers Club at the time who confirmed it was faultless, other than some light pitting of the chrome on one rear light. They valued it at £125,000 at that time.XDN 36 was purchased by our vendor, a serious motoring connoisseur, in December 2018 and, in his care, the XK has been well-maintained and lightly but regularly used. It's been enjoyed on various Bowcliffe Drivers Club events and placed second in one of their Concours d'Elegance events. It has covered less than 2,500 miles since the restoration with the only major expense being a set of new Pirelli Cinturatos. On our recent inspection, the car remains near faultless, it really does present well, with a small nick on the drivers bucket seat bolster the only obvious fault.Ready to be enjoyed, be that out on the open road or gracing the club circuit, with all that has to offer, this impressive XK120 warrants your early inspection to fully appreciate this rare and desirable drivers Jaguar.Specification Make: JAGUAR Model: XK120 COUPÉ Year: 1951 Chassis Number: 679082 Registration Number: XDN 36 Transmission: Manual 4 speed Engine Number: G 2681-8 Odometer Reading: 2134 Miles Make: Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

Superbly restored, a very well-presented example of one of Chapman’s earliest designs. The Elite Type 14 was Colin Chapman’s first production sports car that he designed for Lotus Cars, debuting in 1957. Lotus' design philosophy ran contrary to the prevailing norm, making their cars lighter, more aerodynamic and therefore more nimble, rather than increasing horsepower and weight enabling Lotus cars to outmanoeuvre much more powerful vehicles on track. It was very light, weighing just 630kg utilising a monocoque construction which meant there was no separate chassis, the body was load-bearing, and whilst this was becoming accepted practice, the Elite was the first time it had been constructed in glass-fibre. There were only two strips of steel in the car — a strip for the door hinges to attach to and a very small steel frame to which the engine and suspension were attached. When combined with independent sporty suspension, a ZF gearbox, disc brakes, a Coventry Climax all-aluminium engine and a very low drag coefficient of just 0.29, it made for a great drivers car, so much so that by production end in 1963 over 1,000 had been produced. The Elite was very expensive to produce - especially the GRP monocoque which was extremely labour-intensive (the first 280 were built by Maximar then production switched to Bristol Aircraft who built a further 760+ cars). It is estimated that Colin Chapman lost c.£100 on each Elite, so there was a backwards switch to a separate steel backbone chassis for the successor Elan, making it much cheaper to build.Offered here is very special Elite SE, presented in the wonderful period-correct Primrose Yellow with a silver metallic roof, matching Jim Clark’s road car. It's the higher performance, 85bhp factory variant (SE) which initially came fitted with twin SU carburettors, a fabricated exhaust system, the ZF Gearbox and Lucas PL700 headlamps.Purchased new in 1962 by Viscount Gough, it was subject to a complete 'last nut and bolt' restoration by the previous owner, who was meticulous in his attention to detail. In 2005, the bodywork was stripped back to the gel coat, all traces of repairs, stress cracks, and damage were removed and repaired using glass fibre only. The entire car was then re-spayed by Proline Paint, GRP specialists, costing in excess of £8,000, and all the lights were replaced with new-old-stock Lucas items. The interior is finished in black with grey carpet, the seats having been re-trimmed by a local ex-Aston Martin trimmer in black leather and the correct Irvin black seat belts were retained as was the original instrumentation, wood-rim steering wheel and its original Snail Brand tool kit and jack.Mechanically, the engine has been fully re-built up to FWB specification with a capacity of 1,460cc, using new components supplied by the premier Coventry Climax Engines specialist. These include a new-old-stock Coventry Climax crankshaft; Carrillo con-rods; new pistons; alloy five-bearing cam carrier; high-lift camshaft; new water and oil pumps; high-torque starter motor; re-cored radiator; thermostatically controlled Kenlowe electric cooling fan; new cast inlet manifold; and refurbished Weber DCOE 18 carburettors. In addition, the cylinder head has been fully ported, gas-flowed and rebuilt with larger inlet and exhaust valves. Having been fully balanced, it's not subject to the usual vibrations and shudders of an Elite. The engine will now safely rev to 7,000rpm plus, and should develop 120-125bhp.Standard fitment was a 4-speed MG gearbox with the highly sought after ZF all-synchro box offered, as an option on S2 models, but was part of the SE package. One of the drawbacks of the MG transmission was that it was low geared (standard rear axle ratio of 4.22:1 plus a direct fourth gear) meaning that the engine ran at quite high revs when cruising. This led to the development of a 5-speed Type-9 conversion – greatly improving driveability with its 'overdrive' fifth gear. This is all achieved without any modifications to the monocoque - so is completely reversible and vastly improves the driving experience. '905 FWB' is fitted with a Type 9 5-speed gearbox complete with a new clutch cover and drive plate. New bearings and universal joints were fitted throughout, and the 4.22:1 differential fully rebuilt, while the new 60-spoke wire wheels were fitted with period-correct Pirelli Cinturato tyres. In 2014, the suspension was replaced in its entirety by Tolman Motorsport. The original rear wishbones utilised a 'rubber ball' type location at the inboard end which can wear prematurely leading to instability caused by unwanted changes in toe angle. This Elite had the rear wishbones converted to rose joints in place of the 'ball & socket' arrangement, along with the Tolman Motorsport adjustable suspension set-up.Despite being MOT exempt, our vendor put the car through a voluntary MOT which it passed with no advisories, valid until 8th October 2024.Built in very small numbers (circa 1,040), and presenting in fabulous condition, this very well-sorted Elite is a delightful example. Having seen a full restoration with intelligent upgrades, this is certainly a car that Chapman would be proud to bear his name.Specification Make: LOTUS Model: ELITE SE Year: 1962 Chassis Number: EB2181718 Registration Number: 905 FWB Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 11977 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 64742 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Already an established rally car, this impressive 240Z was extensively refreshed in 2020 and has since proven competitive and reliable in a number of European rallies during the last two years. The Datsun 240Z, (latterly the 260Z and 280Z) was the first generation of 'Z' two-seat coupés, produced by Nissan in Japan from 1969 to 1978. Its dramatic looks owed a considerable amount to a 1960s styling concept drawn by Count Albrecht Goertz for Datsun, presumably at a time when they were considering ways to break into the European sports car market. The 240Z was powered by a lusty 2.4-litre, straight-six overhead cam engine developing around 150bhp, resulting in a 0-60 time of eight seconds and a top speed of 125mph. A 5-speed manual gearbox was standard, and the car featured independent suspension all round, with MacPherson struts at the front and Chapman links at the rear. Rack and pinion power steering and front disc brakes meant that the 240Z was a thoroughly modern package. In the 1970s, these cars were hot property everywhere, and given that the car's drivetrain was heavily based on the 510 saloons used widely in motorsport, it was only a matter of time before the 240Z was campaigned on circuits and in forests on both sides of the Atlantic. Incredibly, some 50 years later, they can still be found in historic racing and are particularly popular in rallying circles, remaining competitive in club and historic events.Offered here is a very well-sorted Datsun 240Z rally car that has proved to be very reliable for our vendor on numerous rally events organised by Rally the Globe. The events included the Carrera Italia, Carrera Espania, Carrera Rivera, Highland Thistle and the West Country Cloverleaf where it performed effortlessly and with total reliability. Purchased by him in 2019, it was already an established rally car and had been fitted with a 2.8-litre engine, 5-speed gearbox, Quaife differential, a full roll-cage, and Minilite alloys, however our vendor commenced a recommission with reliability a very important factor.Various invoices in the history file show the purchase of parts from the 'Z Farm' delivered to Classic Rally Services of Suffolk to start the preparation process. At the beginning of 2020, approximately £6,000 was spent which included a new differential, rear-axle rebuild, Brantz timers and clocks, new seats, extinguisher and belts. The front cross-member was strengthened together with the front wishbones and the clutch, all brake pipes and the fuel pump were replaced. Original 240Z carburettors were sourced and fitted and the dynamometer report from August 2020 shows a very healthy 199bhp at the rear wheels.Very well-presented and impressively detailed, this dual purpose, fast road/rally Japanese classic has proved very competitive in Rally the Globe 'Class B3-Late Classic' and, perhaps more importantly, has been very reliable. It’s always better to return home under your own steam rather than on the back of a flatbed. This is a super example of a topical 1970s rally car, suitable for European Historic and Classic rallies, regularity runs or just club events here at home, and we welcome any inspection.Specification Make: DATSUN Model: 240Z Year: 1972 Chassis Number: HS3001622 Registration Number: JPK 4K Transmission: Manual Engine Number: L24061608 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 40970 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

A rare, second-generation, soft top example of Mazda's powerful RX-7 Turbo, freshly recommissioned and looking good - offered at No Reserve. Following the demise of NSU's Ro80, Mazda was left as the only major automobile manufacturer using the Wankel rotary engine. An entire range of rotary-engined models was developed during the 1970s, but by the decade's end, the RX-7 sports car was the only one of its type selling in significant numbers outside Japan. Powered by a twin-rotor Wankel of, nominally, 2.3-litres displacement, the pretty RX-7 coupé had debuted in 1978. Maximum power increased from 105 to 115bhp from 1981 - good enough for a top speed of 125mph, an excellent straight-line performance that the RX-7 combined with handling and grip on a par with European rivals. Restyled for 1986, the second generation car was fitted with a new, more powerful engine and improved rear suspension at the same time. A turbocharged variant was introduced in 1988, becoming available in convertible form the following year, and with 200bhp available was capable of a, claimed, 148mph with the top up.This second generation RX7 Turbo Cabriolet was supplied new by Charles Follett Ltd. in London on 15th May 1992 and is accompanied by a list of older owners up until it was acquired by its previous owner in November 2004 and subsequently our vendor in September 2019. There is a massive invoice file detailing work on the car from 1996 right up to date. (See Summary on file) and the service records indicate regular main dealer servicing up until 2001. Thereafter, work was covered by Rotary Engine Specialists with comprehensive invoices on file including the engine change in January 2005 by Hurley Engineering, a year before it was laid up.More recently, the car was fully recommissioned with all fluids changed and thoroughly examined. Numerous works were carried out which included a thorough overhaul of the fuel system, replacing fuel lines, cleaning injectors, etc., brake lines replaced, callipers refurbished and new OEM Mazda brake discs fitted with new pads, the wheels were refurbished and fitted with new tyres, the hood mechanism was cleaned, lubricated and refitted with a new rear roof section fitted, obtained from America, and underneath some rust was found behind the sills and the interior was stripped for a full repair with rust proofing. The paintwork is generally very good, and overall the car is therefore described by its enthusiast owner to be in excellent condition, having passed it’s MOT with no advisories. The Rotary engine was replaced about 12,000 miles ago and is very sweet. The engine bay is very clean with plated items, etc in excellent condition. It retains the battery cover, often missing. In the boot, the carpet is excellent with the correct tonneau cover, tool roll, wheel chocks and jack. Also present is the original black book pack containing the handbook, service booklet and instructions for the radio cassette. It even has the period Mazda sales brochure and a further service and Owners Manual on CD-Rom. It comes with two correct Mazda keys.A now rare Collectors' item, it is unusual to find one in this condition - an opportunity not to be missed.Specification Make: MAZDA Model: RX-7 TURBO Year: 1992 Chassis Number: JMZFC183200202499 Registration Number: J429 DYK Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 13BE078671 Make: Click here for more details and images

One of only 80 right-hand drive examples of these contemporary classic Jaguars with just 488 miles from new.In 2012, nearly 40 years after the E-Type's demise, Jaguar finally got around to announcing the long-awaited and much-rumoured F-Type, which would turn out to be a more worthy spiritual successor to its illustrious forbearer than either the preceding XK8 or, before that, the XJS. A front-engined, rear-wheel-drive two-seater, the F-Type is built on an aluminium chassis, cleverly configured to minimise the transmission of noise and vibration to the passenger compartment, while its suspension is the supercar-standard arrangement of double wishbones all round, with adaptive dampers and adjustable settings. Multiple driving modes cater for different road conditions and driving styles.Unlike the E-Type, the F-Type was available with a wide variety of different power plants, ranging from a turbocharged 2-litre four via a 3-litre turbo V6 to a supercharged 5.0-litre V8. A ZF 8-speed paddle-shift semi-automatic transmission was standard on all models at first, with a 6-speed manual available later on the V6. The F-Type debuted at the Paris Motor Sow in September 2012 in convertible form, with the fixed-head coupé following in 2014. Nowadays it is de rigeur for car stylists to reference past models in their latest creations, and to some observers, the coupé's rear recalled that of one of the rarest of E-Types: the low-drag factory racer. To cater for the sports car market's seemingly insatiable appetite for limited edition models, Jaguar launched the 400 Sport – produced for just one year – and Project 7, which would be built in a run of only 250 cars. Project 7 had first seen the light of day as a single-seater concept car shown at Goodwood, and so favourable was the reception that it was decided to press ahead with making a more practical two-seater production version. They soon sold out, with 80 assigned to customers in the UK. The 'Project 7' designation referenced Jaguar's seven Le Mans wins, while the 'Aero Haunch' behind the driver's head was an obvious nod towards the D-Type sports-racer responsible for three of those victories. An aggressive-looking shallow-screen 'barchetta', Project 7 has all-aluminium bodywork and is powered by the 5-litre supercharged V8, up-rated to produce 567bhp, 25bhp more than in the F-Type R. Coupled with a 45kg weight reduction, this makes Project 7 the fastest accelerating F-Type yet, with a 0-60mph (0-97km/h) time of 3.8 seconds. Like many of the current crop of supercars, Project 7 is electronically limited to a top speed of 186mph (300kph). With the exhaust butterflies open (there's a special console switch), the car emits a superb growl-bark that turns into a magnificent crackle on the overrun. It's the one thing that makes you want to slow down. The 'top-end running gear' includes the 8-speed paddle-shift auto 'box; electronic differential; carbon ceramic brakes; specially tuned suspension; and unique settings for engine management and chassis stability control. SVO engineers also rebalanced and improved the car's rear-biased aerodynamic downforce by fitting side skirts and a large front splitter, while slightly reducing the effectiveness (and drag) of the boot lid wing. The result of Project 7's unique set of characteristics is a track-focused car capable of satisfying even the quickest of drivers.Supplied new by Stratstone of Mayfair, the fabulous Project 7 on offer here was first registered on 1st March 2016 as PRO7 JUR and is finished in the rather striking, special order hue of Metallic Goodwood Blue with a triple white stripe across the nose. It sits on a set 20" Storm Black Diamond Turned Alloys in front of bright yellow calipers and the paintwork has been treated to full PPF. The car was optioned from new with Project 7 Illuminated Tread Plates and was supplied with a bespoke car cover, two keys and an immobiliser which is currently not connected. It's fitted with the 'Jaguar Project 7 - 1 of 250' plaque and is accompanied by the rather lavish Dealer Book Pack containing its Certificate of Authenticity. Our vendor is currently the car's second owner, it has covered just 488 miles and, as you can imagine, its condition is simply spectacular. One of only 295 right-hand drive examples, with its first owner for 32 years and just less than 33,000 miles from new.The Audi Quattro may not have been the first four-wheel drive production car (that honour belongs to the 1966 Jensen Interceptor FF), but its place in history is assured. Thanks in no small part to its enormous rallying success, the Quattro popularized all-wheel drive, and is now regarded as one of the most influential and important sports cars of the 1980s. The brainchild of Jorg Bensinger, an Audi chassis engineer, development work was started in 1977, and three years later, the finished product was released. Although the floor pan had much in common with the Audi 80 and the running gear was largely taken from an Audi 200, the Quattro used a manual centre differential lock (operated by levers next to the handbrake) to govern the 197bhp and 210lb/ft power outputs delivered by the 2.1-litre in-line five-cylinder turbocharged engine. By the time this particular car arrived in 1990, the crude cable-operated 50:50 split differential had been replaced with a much more advanced Torsen (torque sensing) diff, and the engine had been uprated with double overhead camshafts and a larger 2,226cc capacity, upping power to 217bhp.Finished in Panther Black Metallic with a Granite leather/cloth interior, this smart example was first registered by VAG Milton Keynes as their demonstrator, prior to being purchased in November 1990 by its first owner, who kept the vehicle for almost 32 years until becoming our vendor's property in June 2022. It has only covered 32,837 miles from new, with just two former registered keepers, and has patently been cherished, garaged all its life and is in remarkable condition. It has a fully stamped service record, with 17 service stamps which includes details of a fresh cambelt at 31,353 miles by The Quattro Workshop in Leicester, and is accompanied by a detailed history file with service receipts and MOT history, the original wallet with manuals etc., original sales brochure, the spare key and original key code tag. It will be treated to a fresh MOT and full service prior to our sale. This is a genuine, low-mileage, 20-valve Quattro in very good condition with a superb history and would enhance any collection and be a great talking point at local shows and events. A lovely left-hand drive example, restored to a very high standard at a cost of over £50,000. A progressive development of the sensational XK120 and XK140, the XK150 retained the same basic chassis, 3.4-litre engine and 4-speed Moss transmission of its predecessors but, partly due to the growing US demand for more comfortable and refined sports cars, benefited from an entirely new body providing increased interior space and improved visibility courtesy of a single-piece wrap-around windscreen. A higher front wing line and broader radiator grille were other obvious differences but the new model's main talking point was its Dunlop disc brakes; at last the XK had stopping power to match its prodigious straight-line speed. Introduced in the spring of 1957, the XK150 was available at first only in fixed and drophead coupé forms, the open roadster (OTS) version not appearing until the following year.According to its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, this well-presented left-hand drive XK150 3.4 Roadster was despatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on 30th May 1958 and onwards to its first US owner. In more recent times, the XK150 was repatriated to the these shores where a comprehensive restoration was undertaken. The work was obviously extensive, with over £50,000 invested, and the results speak for themselves. The bodywork was taken down to bare metal and classically refinished in Old English White, all the brightwork was re-chromed and polished, the interior was retrimmed in navy blue leather to a very high standard, new chrome wire wheels were fitted, the matching numbers engine was rebuilt and, naturally, every other mechanical aspect of the venerable Jaguar received similar care and attention.Accompanying the car is a history file containing a quantity of invoices, the aforementioned Heritage Certificate and photographs of the work carried out, all available for your inspection at our Documents Desk when you view the car, which we invite and encourage in order to appreciate the quality on offer.Specification Make: JAGUAR Model: XK150 ROADSTER Year: 1958 Chassis Number: S830464 Registration Number: 928 UYY Transmission: Manual Engine Number: V3917-8 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Make: LHD Interior Colour: Navy BlueClick here for more details and images

Lot 167

Restored by specialists Arthur Archer and one of only 50 of these exquisite sports saloons, this short-wheelbase 4-Litre has been owned by some of the very best collectors, a true connoisseur's car. The Bentley 4-Litre was the old Cricklewood company's swansong model before its absorption by Rolls-Royce. With the Depression biting, sales of the old 4½-Litre were declining and, with its newest 8-Litre model costing all of £1,850 in chassis-only form, Bentley Motors desperately needed a new smaller model to compete with Rolls-Royce's successful 20/25hp. The result was the 4-Litre. The six-cylinder engine was designed by Ricardo, with overhead inlet/side exhaust valves and a claimed output of 120bhp at 4,000rpm. A double-drop chassis was adopted, closely based on that of the contemporary Bentley 8-Litre, and offered in two wheelbase lengths - 11' 2" and 11' 8", both of which were shorter than the shortest of the two 8-Litre chassis available. Although 'W.O.' apparently did not like the Ricardo design (considering it difficult to tune) the fundamental soundness of the inlet-over-exhaust arrangement was aptly demonstrated post-war, with engines of this configuration powering Bentley and Rolls-Royce motor cars up to 1959. The 4-Litre was not fully understood in-period and much maligned yet, with the benefit of hindsight, it had the best chassis, gearbox and rear axle of all the pre-war Bentleys, proving ideal to be converted into 6½- and 8-Litre specials in later years. Only 50 '4-Litres' were completed before the original Bentley company's liquidation, with only a dozen believed to exist today. This rather handsome 4-Litre Sports Saloon (Chassis #VF 4011) dates from 1931, and was purchased by our vendor from North Wales in 2019. It was described at the time of his purchase as 'The car is matching numbers with the original engine, steering box etc. and the restoration included an extensive mechanical overhaul of the engine, chassis and all running gear as well as totally rebuilding an original, very handsome, Gurney Nutting body with twin side-mounted spare wheels, louvred bonnet and scuttle, ‘trouser crease' wings etc. The quality of the reconstruction of the coachwork and the attention to detail are really something to behold, showing dedication, genuine enthusiasm and a desire to make the coachwork indistinguishable from the original.'#VF 4011 has a fascinating history and was delivered new to J.M. Robertson of 45, West Nile Street, Glasgow wearing a Weymann saloon body by Freestone & Webb. Two years later, it had migrated south to A.R. Timson of Kettering and, in 1937, it passed to J.W. Tompkins of Peterborough. The old buff log book with the car cites Dr Benjamin Spiers of Harley St. as the owner in January 1949. Dr Spiers was responsible for having a rakish Drophead Coupé alloy body fitted to the car, which was assumed to have replaced war-damaged or modified bodywork, as its use in that period is not known. It was in this form that its next owner purchased the car from Harvey Hudson & Co. Ltd. of South Woodford, Essex in April 1954. He fondly recalls haring around the Essex countryside in the 4-Litre as a young man and having enjoyed it immensely, but within a year, his impending marriage curtailed these activities and forced him to advertise the car for sale. It was offered in Motorsport magazine, where it was listed as having had £1,500 spent since 1945, and a recent engine rebuild by McKenzies, but with no buyers forthcoming, and a need still to economise, the car was laid up on blocks until 1986. It was then that the 4-Litre was booked into Arthur Archer's esteemed restoration works in Dunmow, Essex in September 1986 for an engine overhaul. This rebuild quickly developed into a complete restoration of the chassis and running gear and, as this work neared completion, the owner and restorer were faced with a conundrum over the car's bodywork. It made little sense to restore the 1940s body as this was an anachronism for the 1930s car, but unfortunately no photos existed of this car as new. At this point, fortune played its part when another 4-Litre was discovered locally. Despite that car's derelict condition it retained a front and a back door from its original bodywork, a Gurney Nutting saloon, and a period photograph of the bodywork existed. With enough to work from, it was decided to replicate that car's Gurney Nutting bodywork for #VF 4011. The design in question was fitted originally to chassis #VA 4076, as illustrated in Johnnie Green's Bentley, 50 years of the Marque on page 135. There is little doubt of the quality and eye for detail with which the car's bodywork was remade, Archer's motto of 'Older than the Industry' being testament to their familiarity with all aspects of restoration, including coachbuilding. The new coachwork was exquisitely painted in a two-tone livery and trimmed in deep red leather hide, its interior being appointed with period correct vanity units, correct dashboard instrumentation and even a tool storage area behind the rear seat. In total, the cost of the 12-year rebuild amounted to some £90,000, for which each and every bill is available, many dating from the late 1980s when labour was considerably less than today. Upon its completion, the Bentley was first shown at the Bentley Driver's Club Annual Concours in 1998 and was lightly used over the following years before being offered to market in 2010.Between 2010 and our vendor’s purchase in 2019, #VF 4011 (still registered as GT 1094) at some point was owned by one of Ireland’s most celebrated collectors and enthusiasts, Jimmy Boland, who used the Bentley on the Gordon Bennet Rally, and it was well-maintained as part of his extensive collection. Equally, our vendor has continued the car's history of cosseted ownership and regular maintenance during the last four years, keeping the car in climate-controlled storage when not in use. This is a well-restored example of a rare model, and a commendable labour of love to have rebuilt the car to its original form. Without doubt it would make a very practical and usable touring car for Bentley Driver's Club events and the like, and would be welcome anywhere.Specification Make: BENTLEY Model: 4 LITRE Year: 1931 Chassis Number: VF 4011 Registration Number: GT 1094 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: VF4016 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: Burgundy leatherClick here for more details and images

Perhaps the defining British modern-classic, MG's supercar - rare, bespoke and capable; here with just 10,000 miles, a manual gearbox and in collector-quality condition. In 2001, the MG ‘XPower’ brand was created by MG Rover for their motorsport subsidiary, MG Sport & Racing Ltd. Soon after, the road-going MG SV supercar was planned as an indulgent 'halo' model, intended to give a further resurgence to the MG brand post-BMW, under the subsidiary and marketed using the fledging XPower brand. They were to be made available through a network of specialist XPower dealerships, or directly from the MG Sport & Racing factory. To get the project moving, MG bought out Italian manufacturer, Qvale, and planned to use its Mangusta - complete with trick chassis and Ford-sourced V8 - as the basis for a proper sports car.The XPower SV’s aggressive design was penned by Peter Stevens - the man responsible for the McLaren F1 - and there’s no denying it looks quite unlike anything that’s come before or since, seemingly combining tuner, exotic and muscle car elements into one package. It was built on a lightweight steel chassis (which had integral roll over bar protection, built to FIA standards) and was clothed in a carbon fibre body, made up from over 3,000 separate pieces. This was formed and cut to size in the UK before being shipped to Italy, where each part was laid in moulds before being 'cooked' to form the rigid sections that were then attached together to form the complete body. The extremely rigid steel box frame chassis, made in Italy, was fully built up before the body was attached, then the mechanically complete cars were finished in the UK. The engine utilised was a Ford 4.6-litre V8 (with twin cams per bank and four valves per cylinder) delivering 320bhp in base SV format, whilst the more potent SV-R model gained a Roush-tuned 'cammer' 5-litre V8 upping the output to an official 385bhp - though it allegedly produced closer to 410bhp. The SV-R could be specified with an automatic or manual 5-speed Tremec gearbox, helping to propel the latter from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds, and with a top speed of 175mph.The consensus is that a total of just 82 cars were completed, of which 42 were the more powerful SV-R. Customers including Rowan Atkinson were keen to experience this MG supercar before the company entered administration on 12th April 2005.The car presented here is a 2004 MG XPower SV-R, Chassis #154 (first registered November 2004), with the more desirable manual gearbox and with only 10,669 miles covered from new. Its condition is wholly commensurate with that low-mileage and belies its 19 years. Ordered in Starlight Silver with contrasting black side vents, a black leather interior (including seats and steering wheel), electric seat height adjustment, electric windows, dual-action 4-belt, 3-point safety harness, SV-R 18" OZ split-rim alloy wheels and upgraded brakes, a specification it still retains today.#154 was initially utilised as a demonstrator for MG Sport & Racing's specially appointed XPower dealership, Phoenix Preston, to whom it was registered. As we understand it through the MG SV database, the car’s ownership remained with MG Sport & Racing Ltd., and it was returned from Preston when the wider business entered administration in April 2005. Indeed, the car still wears its MG Sport & Racing Ltd. number plates with pride! The car’s additional two keepers were associated with MG Rover, as it was serviced twice by them early on in its life.Since then, it has been fully serviced by Luffields, the official SV service agents, and more recently readied for sale by marque specialists, Retro Sports Cars Ltd. of Huddersfield. On offer from a small private Collection, this car has been diligently kept and used infrequently by our vendor since 2014. A never-to-be-repeated type of car from a bygone British carmaker - rare, exotic and a best-of-breed example - all the components for securing future status.Specification Make: MG Model: XPOWER SV-R Year: 2004 Chassis Number: SA9SVGCC5M130154 Registration Number: BX54 AUL Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 88207838 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 10670 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black leather Click here for more details and images

A superbly restored, matching numbers example of an early 289 Hi-Po car, the model that was to inspire Caroll Shelby's GT350. With performance to raise a smile when in the mood, and enough space for the family when required, some say the Ford Mustang created its own industry sector by offering an affordable sports car for the daily commute. The second of two models, the Coupé was marketed as the hardtop version of the convertible, and is today known as the Notchback. The sportier looking Fastback was launched in early 1965, clearly defining the Mustang range and into Mustang genesis for the line of tuned Ford Mustangs that followed, was the early production 289 High Performance (Hi-Po) Mustang. This was the car that Carroll Shelby took and rebadged as the GT350.Records show that just 466 1965 K-Code cars were built at the Ford Dearborn factory in Illinois, many destined for Shelby's Los Angeles workshops. The example offered here is a 19th February 1965-registered Ford Mustang K-code Hi-Po finished to the most exacting standards. Possibly the finest early correct example available worldwide, and all tuned Mustangs, even today, can trace their DNA back to this car. Purchased in the United States in 2011, the restoration was carried out by renowned Mustang expert and MCA judge, Denis Frances Restos of Danville Virginia. It was subject to a bare-metal rotisserie restoration with the brief to make it as close as possible to the factory production line cars, including, remarkably, factory overspray detail and crayon marks. Finished in Caspian Blue with a black interior and fitted with Carlite factory-tint glass, it is incredibly faithful to the original specification and even retains its original door plate. It's fitted with it's original V8 289 Hi-Po engine as used in the Shelby GT350. This was rebuilt at the same time as the restoration at a cost of $7,000, and travelled just 300 miles in 2014.The 4-speed 'top-loader' manual gearbox was also rebuilt at the same time. The full specification includes black Decor seats, 9" differential, front discs with dual master cylinder, date-correct seat belts and new correct steel wheels. It also sports reproduced Arvinode exhausts. This Mustang really is as good as it gets, and has caught the eye of two previous vendors of ours, the first whilst on a plinth at the Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Motor Show Sale in 2014.Prior to being sold by us last year, the Mustang had been rightly displayed on the Pride of Ownership stand at the Classic Motor Show. Our 2022 sale vendor had added a spare wheel with cover, fitted a period correct radio with modern electrics, prop shaft seals and passenger side window regulator, with the works carried out by noted specialist Bill Shepherd Mustang at a cost of £2,358. The car's current owner has kept the car in a heated garage since purchase, and is thinning his collection out on a 'last in-first out' basis.Presented to auction with a history file that includes recent receipts, V5C, Owner's Manuals, a book entitled The 289 Mustang High Performance Mustang Story and an odometer reading of 20,987 miles at the time of cataloguing.Specification Make: FORD Model: MUSTANG Year: 1965 Chassis Number: 5F09K640857 Registration Number: FNA 392C Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 640857 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 21000 Miles Make: Only LHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Classic looks and very competitive, this fabulous Alfa race car has current FIA HTP papers valid until 2026. The Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV was made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1967. This classic Alfa Romeo model was a popular sports coupe and formed part of the Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series, known for its elegant design and sporty performance. In 1971 Alfa Romeo introduced the 2000 GTV at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1971. The 2000 GTV was essentially an updated/continuation of the 1750 GTV, retaining the 1750 GTV coachwork but with minor detail styling changed, and the biggest change, a torquey 1962cc DOHC-engine now producing 132bhp in standard guise.Driver’s cars par excellence in the best Alfa Romeo tradition, Bertone's timelessly elegant Giulia-based coupés are among the most exciting sports models of the 1960s and 1970s. This wonderful little racer is an original UK-delivered, right-hand drive example that has been raced and competed all over the international circuit in recent years, and contrary to popular opinion on Alfas, it remains to be working faultlessly! Here at Iconic Auctioneers, we are huge fans of the Alfa Romeo 1750 and 2000 GTV respectively, and it is with great excitement that we offer a fabulously competitive and very well prepared, right-hand drive, FIA certified variant of this fantastic little coupé. The car is a 1750 GTV that has been built and homologated to H1 1972-1975 specification, registered with the FIA as a 1971 2000 GTV with the therefore correct 1962cc engine. For the long-distance rally enjoyers, and ‘enthusiastic’ drivers, the car is fully road-legal and road registered with a current V5.The history file contains a colossal amount of bills and invoices from Alfa specialists Alfaholics, Classic Alfa and DLR services. The engine is fully forged with most parts supplied by Alfaholics totalling nearly £10,000 in October 2014 alone. The engine was removed, stripped, machined and rebuilt by DLR services in 2014/15 with bills on file in excess of £5,000, as well rolling road setup. The bills and invoices for parts and labour are well in excess of £20,000, and there is also an abundance of race results, timing sheets and race entries included in the file. Importantly, also included is the MSA Homologation Form and MSA Historic Technical Papers, valid until 31/12/2026. It goes without saying that this Alfa is phenomenally fast and fastidiously built, with the finest parts supplied and fitted to this car. Viewing of the history file is highly recommended, it makes for very pleasant reading.Cosmetically one would expect a few blemishes on race cars, but as can be seen from the photos, this lovely Alfa presents extremely well, running and driving as beautifully as it looks, making a delightful noise out of its side-exit exhaust. The bodywork in Farina Red shows no sign of the scourge of Alfas, the dreaded tin worm, and the interior is in a good condition. The car has been maintained without thought of expense and shows its age beautifully. The car is competitive, having been raced internationally in France at Dijon in 2016, coming 2nd in class and 13th overall, at Spa in 2015, and across the UK at Silverstone all the way up to 2019, and winning its class at Donnington in 2016.The historic touring car grid is always an aesthetically pleasing line-up, but this little Alfa is up there with the absolute prettiest, but not to be fooled by its good looks, it certainly packs a punch and gets very strong race results when push comes to shove.Specification Make: ALFA ROMEO Model: 2000 GTV Year: 1971 Chassis Number: AR1455438 Registration Number: FEH 896J Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 00548E6514 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Is there a cooler classic car? Understated, Highland Green, Fastback silhouette; this is a superb example that drives as well as it looks. The original Mustang was exactly the right car at the right time and consequently, this 'sports car for the masses' sold 1,000,000 in less than two years. The secret of the Mustang's success was a broad appeal that extended beyond the target market thanks to a great value-for-money package, combining sporty looks, decent economy and brisk performance. Available as a Notchback Coupe, Convertible or, from 1965, as Fastback Coupe and the array of trim and engine options meant that there was a 'Stang' to satisfy everyone. The fastback Coupe is an effortlessly cool shape and is the Mustang profile that people default to in their mind's eye. Mustangs could be ordered in specifications ranging from six-cylinder economy to V8-powered luxury, whilst customers could choose from an extensive range of factory options with the result that seldom are two Mustangs identical. Already an outstanding success, the Mustang was turned into a legend overnight following its appearance in the Steve McQueen film, Bullitt in 1968. In one of the most spectacular car chases ever seen in a motion picture, McQueen's maverick cop, Frank Bullitt, wowed audiences as he was pursued by two hitmen driving a Dodge Charger 440 'Magnum' ina high-speed chase through the streets of San Francisco. Bullitt essentially did for movie car chases what Star Wars did for science fiction films. That's because, unlike other movies at the time, the stunt driving was all real; there were no cheap rear-screen projections used for the close-up shots of the actors, and none of the scenes were sped up in post-production to heighten the sense of speed. They didn't need to be, because those cars really were barrelling through the streets of San Francisco at over 110mph! There was a real sense of danger, unlike any movie chase before it, as the two muscle cars weaved through traffic and jumped over the hills of San Francisco, while the camera literally put you in the driving seat. The soundtrack is glorious too, and we don't mean the music soundtrack. Not a word of dialogue is spoken during the 11-minute long sequence. Apart from the scene-setting jazz score that does a great job of building tension before the chase erupts in a cloud of tire smoke, there's no music either, allowing you to appreciate the sound of two thunderous V8 muscle cars and their screaming tortured tyres battling it out. It promptly became an unforgettable part of cinematic history and confirmed the Mustang as one of the all-time classics. The car presented here is a 1968 Ford Mustang, Steve McQueen 'Bullitt-style' Fastback with subtle upgrades to get it to the level of accuracy we see today. It’s supplied with a Marti Report (see image attached) which shows that it was an original Highland Green Fastback built at Ford’s Dearborn plant and sold by the Rebsamen Motor Company in Little Rock, Arkansas. Before leaving the USA, it was registered and used in California and a copy of the California Title is present. The car arrived in the UK in 2015 and is registered correctly with all import taxes paid. The paintwork is very good throughout, dressed in movie-correct, Highland Green, and the exterior has front and rear bumper guards, screen sun-visor, correct inset sidelights, front and rear inset reflectors, original-style chrome mirrors and twin 2-inch exhaust pipes. The car sits on period-correct Torq-Thrust wheels with 225/55/16 Bridgestone Sport tyres. The private McQueen movie number plate 'JJZ' is also supplied with the car.The interior has been fully restored with movie-correct, black deluxe seats, woodgrain dash panel and door cards, and new carpets and headlining. The correct, 4-speed, top-loader, manual gearbox has the Hurst GT shifter with a white ball GT gear knob and was refurbished recently (an invoice refers). 3-point front seat belts and rear lap belts are installed. The 302ci V8 starts on the button and sounds great with its nickel-plated, 'shorty' performance headers and full X-pipe custom large dual Magnaflow exhausts. Steering is power-assisted, and disc brakes are fitted on the front. The indicated mileage is 4,642, the MOT is valid until 8th August 2024 and there is a small service file with some bills. Our vendor has spent £12,000 in further improving this car’s driveability, with recent work to the gearbox and suspension, plus some other minor touches (see invoices attached), to make this a really spot-on classic muscle car, with the sure-fire cool-factor of its Bullitt-style demeanour. We welcome any inspection of this iconic piece of American automotive history. Everything that a sports car should be - dynamic, rewarding and stimulating. The legendary Honda NSX (New Sportscar Experimental) was developed by the Honda Motor Corporation between 1984 and its eventual launch in 1990. With the NSX, Honda produced the world’s first everyday usable supercar, which left the Italian competition for dead in terms of reliability, practicality and build quality. These same qualities make it a joy to drive and own today. Its revolutionary chassis and suspension – all aluminium like the bodywork – making the car very light and extremely strong, were perfected at Suzuka with input from three-time F1 World Champion, Ayrton Senna. The NSX featured a state-of-the-art 3-litre 24-valve V6 'VTEC' engine (Variable Valve Timing), and despite being developed during F1's turbo-era, the engine was normally aspirated. Equipped with this new valve timing technology, the free-revving all-alloy unit produced 270bhp initially, which was good enough for a top speed of 168mph and a 0-60mph time of less than six seconds. Those performance figures put the NSX on a par with Ferrari's 348 GTB, but in terms of comfort, ergonomics, driving dynamics, and build quality, the NSX was in a different league entirely. Sadly, this superiority was not translated into sales, and by the time production ceased in 2005, fewer than 20,000 NSXs had been sold – consequently making them relatively rare and much sought after today.Ticking all the boxes, this particular first-generation Honda NSX Press Car is an original UK-registered, right-hand drive Targa with the desirable manual gearbox, finished in Sebring Silver with a Claret hide interior. Interestingly, as a press car, originally registered N115 GLY, it is totally silver with no black top, a colour scheme that sets it apart from the general production examples. In excellent overall condition, this Motor Sport Magazine test car is in outstanding condition throughout and presents superbly, fitted with slightly larger 18" wheels of a similar pattern and an enhanced exhaust system.A comprehensive history file including invoices going back to almost day one as well as an impressive MOT trace accompanies the Honda, displaying regular care and maintenance throughout its lifeIt should be noted that the present registration number E2 NSZ does not form part of the sale but could be available by separate negotiation.Specification Make: HONDA Model: NSX NA-1 Year: 1996 Chassis Number: JHMNA11800T500015 Registration Number: TBC Transmission: Manual Engine Number: D30A4-510008 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 74729 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Burgundy HideClick here for more details and images

Superbly presented, rare four-door 321bhp M3 Evolution on offer from the Private Collection of rock legend, Jay Kay. Based on the critically acclaimed E36 platform, BMW’s second generation M3 was unveiled in 1992 and featured a straight-six under the bonnet for the first time. Initially based on the stylish coupé model of the new 3-series, with its slippery new shape and fresh corporate face, the M3 employed some seriously sophisticated hardware, marking the first use of BMW’s new double VANOS system to adjust both inlet and exhaust camshafts. The sublime 3-litre engine boasted 24-valve technology, twin overhead camshafts along with the variable valve timing system, controlled by the latest Bosch Motronic fuel injection. Power was significantly boosted over the old four-cylinder model, rising to 286 horses at 7,000rpm. Already lauded as one of the finest-handling chassis on the market, in M3 guise the E36 became a world beater, capable of out-performing many exotics.Things continued to improve with the expansion of the range in 1994 to include a four-door saloon, and the arrival of the second generation Evolution cars powered by the new S52 B32, 3.2-litre straight-six with a raised compression ratio to 11.3:1, which significantly upped the power output to 321bhp at 7,400rpm. A 6-speed manual gearbox was fitted and the sequential DSG transmission was an option. Other changes included a new Cornering Brake Control system and 17" wheels, with fatter 225/45 ZR17 (front) and 245/40 ZR17 (rear) tyres. Regarded as one of the best sports cars of the 1990s, BMW’s E36 M3 Evolution was destined to become a classic. We are delighted to be asked to offer this fabulous four-door E36 Evo with the 6-speed manual gearbox from the private Collection of rock legend and knowledgeable petrol head, Jay Kay.It's one of only 570 UK right-hand drive examples of the E36 Evolution Saloon and has covered just 46,074 miles from new. It's finished in Boston Green Metallic with a classic M3 interior in light grey Nappa leather and it's only fair to describe the car as immaculate. These final cars are really great to drive, quick, smooth and immensely competent. Book-ended by the E30 and E46 M3s, the E36 M3 is often overlooked and, particularly in four-door form, underrated meaning that they are superb value. In amazing condition, with low-mileage and the cachet of celebrity ownership, this desirable M3 seems very sensibly guided. Elegant, stylish and rare, this Velvet Green Corniche would be welcome anywhere. Introduced in March 1971, the Corniche was a revised version of the Mulliner, Park Ward-bodied two-door variants of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-Series saloons, themselves notable as the Crewe factory's first unitary construction cars. In Corniche form, Rolls-Royce's well-tried 6.7-litre V8 produced around 10% more power than standard and proved capable of propelling the car to a top speed in excess of 120mph with sports car-rivalling acceleration to match. The model proved a major success for Rolls-Royce; periodically revised and up-dated, it remained in production well into the 1990s, the last (Convertible) examples being delivered in 1995. For much of the time that the Corniche was in production, a Bentley was regarded as little more than a slightly cheaper alternative to a Rolls-Royce. This famous marque had yet to re-establish its reputation as maker of some of the world's fastest and most exciting sports saloons and Grand Tourers, a process that commenced in 1982 with the launch of the remarkable Mulsanne Turbo. Consequently, the Bentley Corniche was produced in much smaller numbers than its Rolls-Royce equivalent, despite being – arguably – the more handsome of the two. The name originally comes from the French word for a coastal road, particularly along the face of a cliff, most notably the Grande Corniche along the French Riviera above the principality of Monaco, and it was thought at the time that this new name might convey some of the style and glamour of Monte Carlo and, 50 years later, it still does.Up to 1984, when the Bentley Corniche was renamed 'Continental', only 151 had been sold compared to several thousand of the Rolls-Royce version and, pleasingly, these rare Bentleys are becoming much sought after today. On offer here we indeed have one of these rare elegant two-door cars. We understand that it was originally finished in Willow Gold but was later refinished in Velvet Green, an altogether more subtle presentation, although the original Magnolia leather interior is still in place, as luxurious as ever. The car's previous owner was an established figure in the world of motor racing having raced in the 1950s and 1960s piloting not only his D-Type, but also an XK120, C-Type, Aston Martin DB3S, Lister Costin, and Tojiero amongst a number of others. Our vendor, a well-respected collector in his own right, had been fortunate enough to buy the previous owner's Jaguar D-Type and, in a sentimental moment, thought that it would be nice to add his beloved Corniche to his own Collection to enable the Jaguar and the Bentley to sit side-by-side once again. A great idea but, as our vendor does have a number of other Bentleys, it was inevitably not going to be used enough so the decision was made to offer it for sale. The history file indicates that the engine had a major overhaul in 2003 which was around 13,000 miles ago. The current mileage is just under 80,000 and we understand from our vendor that everything works as intended, the electric seats, cold air conditioning, the stereo works from all four speakers, whilst the electric aerial is operated with a switch adjacent to the steering column. The rare Bentley Corniche is, without question, a masterpiece in looks and engineering and has that certain cachet fully understood by Bentley owners. 107 HYL is an extremely desirable luxury car in beautiful condition and we believe will be very well received by collectors and enthusiasts alike.Specification Make: BENTLEY Model: CORNICHE Year: 1974 Chassis Number: CBH17786 Registration Number: 107 HYL Transmission: auto Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 79178 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: MagnoliaClick here for more details and images

Part of the Cheshire Collection, supplied new by Ralliart UK to the first owner who covered less than 27,000 miles during his 23-year ownership. The Cheshire Collection is a carefully curated ensemble of modern classics that represent our vendor's enthusiasm, and are all offered on a No Reserve basis to make way for new additions to their respective collections. For nearly a decade, they have been a welcome sight at our auctions, and whilst we have appreciated their energetic bidding, we have valued their chats, enthusiast to enthusiast, just as much. Each car is special, whether it's the vastly improved 1973 Ford Escort, the last production Sierra RS Cosworth showing less than 22,000 miles, the fabulous 12,000km 'Group N' Escort Cosworth, the well-maintained Clio V6, the one-owner, low-mileage Evo VI GSR to, perhaps, the best 2005 Honda Civic Type R on the market. It wasn't until the launch of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI (more commonly referred to as the Evo VI GSR) that the Japanese firm entered the consciousness of a wider spectrum of rally enthusiasts. The first Evo to be officially available in the UK, the Mitsubishi Evo VI was launched in January 1999. From May 1999, UK cars were imported by Mitsubishi Motors and prepared by Ralliart UK (a new company offering closer ties with the UK importer that saw the opening of a small number of Ralliart dealers; even cars sold through Ralliart UK were still subject to Single Vehicle Approval (SVA), which was carried out on behalf of customers). Most came as GSR-spec, but a cheaper RSX model was also launched to combat the draw of Subaru’s keenly-priced Impreza rival. The 'standard' Evo VI GSR stole enthusiasts' hearts from the get-go, its 2-litre turbocharged engine produced 276bhp (although it’s accepted that it was closer to 300bhp), and 275lb/ft. Fed through all four wheels via a 5-speed gearbox, it made the 1,360kg car fast and exciting. The key was its generous cooling. Not only did the Evo VI have a bigger intercooler, oil cooler and radiator than the Evo V, but it also had enlarged ducts in the front bumper, made possible by locating the number plate to the side. That told anyone also considering a Subaru Impreza WRX that the Evo VI was 'serious'. It certainly was, now fitted with a new ECU and permanent four-wheel drive with Active Yaw Control (AYC) that gave physics-defying handling by minimising oversteer and understeer, and a practical four-door body, the Evo immediately gave Subaru a bloody nose. It also helped it crack 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds and head on to 150mph (rather than the 112mph limited top speed of many Japanese imported models). Its body was stiffened with 130 additional spot welds and thicker gauge steel. The front suspension was improved with stronger, forged front knuckles the rear with forged aluminium to reduce unsprung weight. With a price tag of £30,995 when it officially went on sale in the UK, the Evo VI proved a performance bargain. In addition to its WRC-inspired mechanicals, it had showroom-friendly features such as climate control, Recaro sports seats and electric windows and mirrors. The Evo VI's candle burned brightly for a mere two years before being replaced in March 2001 by the Evo VII. For many, the Evo VI remains the pinnacle of Mitsubishi Evo design for its style, aggression and usability. The car presented here is a 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR, car #149 (denoted by its service booklet and gearstick plaque) supplied to the UK-market via Ralliart UK. Finished in Ichelle Blue it was sold via Mitsubishi Motors Reading on 25th March 1999 (to our then vendor), who applied the registration S666 EVO to it, which is generously included in the sale. The car is today still in factory-standard condition, having covered just 26,724 (verifiable) miles (at time of cataloguing) with early Mitsubishi service history (followed by trusted local independents), accompanied by its original Ralliart service booklet and Mitsubishi sales invoice. Our vendor was an early advocate of the abilities of the Evo VI and was invited, with other customers, by Mitsubishi on a specially chartered flight to Rotterdam to inspect and drive their respective cars. The cars were then brought into the UK, fettled by Ralliart and given to owners via the specialist dealerships.Sold by us in 2022 from a vendor who had owned and enjoyed this car ever since, ensuring it has always been garaged and well-maintained. After being garaged and not used (but regularly run-up) for a number of years, it benefitted from £1,700-worth of recommissioning work in June 2021, including an engine flush, a full oil/fluid and filters service, a new battery, new timing/auxiliary belts, a new v/belt tensioner, new spark plugs, and new brake hoses.Specification Make: MITSUBISHI Model: LANCER EVOLUTION VI Year: 1999 Chassis Number: CP9A1012568 Registration Number: S666EVO Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 4G63-YT0350 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 26926 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black/BlueClick here for more details and images
